Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, If it is beleived to be deemed medically necessary and scarce in NZ, is there not some type of reciprocal scheme between Aus Medicare and you NZ equivalent? Could be something to look into. Hugs (A)
Guest guest
Thanks I have medical insurance but it does not cover anything that is deemed cosmetic. It would be impossible to get anything done in the public system here so I just have to pay for it myself and go privately. They would not think my sagging tum or boobs was life threatening, which it isn't of course, just makes you feel miserable. But saying that, it is a very small price to pay having sagging bits when you consider the difference weight loss has made to my life. I would like to have everything done at once to save on the cost of surgery, but the specialist will not do that he said, one at a time. As the first lot of surgery I want to have is 8.5 hours in theatre, and they will not go on to do the tummy tuck after that. Cheryl Have a great Day!! > >Reply-To: SydBand >To: <SydBand > >Subject: Re: Cheryl >Date: Fri, 22 Sep 2006 12:57:01 +1000 > >Hi Cheryl, > >If it is beleived to be deemed medically necessary and scarce in NZ, is >there not some type of reciprocal scheme between Aus Medicare and you NZ >equivalent? Guest guest
Hey there again - Cheryl this surgery is called reconstructive here, not cosmetic and because of the problems caused by excess skin is deemed medically necessary. We aren't covered for cosmetic here either, nor will the tax dept give their 20% rebate for cosmetic, but no probs for us after wls to prove that it isn't being done for cosmetic reasons. The surgeon I saw will also do both ops at the same time and it does save on cost - might be worth a phone call to Mazz's doc to get some questions answered and costings. Cosmetic surgery has been taken out of public hospitals here but I was on a wait list for mine in the public system as my insurance won't cover the private hosp cost for reconstructive surgery and an available date came up within about 2 mths. I canned it as I am not at a low enough weight yet to do this. Ciao Cherie > > Thanks > > I have medical insurance but it does not cover anything that is deemed > cosmetic. Guest guest
Cheryl need ure advice again and will continue to do so in future. What do u feel about Spect scan and iron supplements. My son is about the same age as ure son and we have just started Valtrex now full doze with Diflucan on board. thks and rgds Kavita Re: new here No, you can give with the rest of your supps. Liquid is easier on taste buds, for sure! We saw hyperactivity for about 2 weeks but big language and cognitive gains. Yeasty behavior after about 3 weeks and we started Nizoral after 4 weeks. Definitely have a good antifungal on board! We saw *amazing* gains after adding the anti-fungal. Valtrex alone was nice but once we had both we saw real "wows". Cheryl Hi, we are just starting valtrex. I had it compounded in a liquid suspension so I'm hoping the taste won't be as bitter as I've heard the pills are. Should it be given away from supplements? If so, how long? I would also like to know how soon you have seen changes either good or bad after starting the valtrex. Thank you. Guest guest
As far I know, probiotics only need to be separated from an anti-biotic as the two cancel each other. A probiotic and an anti-viral do not effect one another. If you have some evidence of this, I'd love to see it as it is new news to me. I'm always happy to learn something new! :)Cherylshould not give probiotics at same time as valtrex.kavita mallik <kavita_d_mallik> wrote:Cheryl need ure advice again and will continue to do so in future. What do u feel about Spect scan and iron supplements. Guest guest
We use Dr. Goldberg so you are talking to someone that sees a person well out of the DAN! circle. So with that in mind, I will tell you what *he* thinks. Iron need only be supplemented if there is a deficiency. He does prescribe 44 mg liquid iron when a child doesn't eat much though, as the higher doses of iron stimulate hunger. In this dosage, you see more hunger and less constipation as opposed to a regular iron supplement which is anywhere from 10 - 20 mg I think and can cause loss of appetite and constipation. Once you get into the higher dosages - like Feosol, which comes in 64 and 44 mg it works in the opposite direction.  So low iron and low appetite are the only reasons he uses it.Spect scans are very useful but we haven't had one yet.  Dr. G doesn't do the right off the bat anymore.  He waits until he feels he is missing something or when he feels he is doing really good and wants to check out the results.Always happy to answer questions!  I probably wasn't much help on these ones, though!  :)cheryl  Cheryl need ure advice again and will continue to do so in future. What do u feel about Spect scan and iron supplements. Guest guest
I emailed Dr. McCandless....this was her response: All our kids need probiotics all the time and ananti-viral like valtrex is absolutely not acontraindication.
