Took ear plugs in case I needed them which I didn't! > > We were standing in the lobby at 6:45 am and this man was talking about going down again for more testing! He had HTN and was experiencing many of the SX many of you have associated with low K! I spoke up and asked if he had been tested for PA (like I didn't know the answer!) > > I started by telling him a little about renin and aldo and how the excess aldo caused a lot of the problems. When I told him it was often caused by a benign tumor in an adrenl gland he came accross to where I was standing and said " I'VE GOT ONE OF THOSE! " " They told me it was benign and to not worry about it, it wasn't doing anything! " I told him it probably would not cause cancer but could very well result in a heart attack or stroke from the HTN it was likely causing. I also told him the other symptoms sounded like low potassium and even if they told him it was normal, it could very likely be that they didn't draw correctly or if just over the minimum like 3.7 or 3.8 it might be his body telling the scolars that made the ranges they were wrong! > > I wrote down some info for him and suggested he join this group. I almost " bet him a beer " that if he joined and followed instructions he would be feeling better in a month or two - figured I could send the beer to Dr. G., I must owe him one or two! > > I think I made his day, I overheard him telling 3 different people that he thought he found his problem and then I'd see him pointing at nme from accross the waiting room! Thought about holding a class! See, the VA delivers - You never know wht you will learn on the bus! (I learned a lot in my 7 years driving the bus!) > > - 65 yo super ob. male - 12mm X 13mm rt. a.adnoma with previous rt. flank pain. Treating with Meds. And DASH. .
