I'm impressed that you modified the sets to get through them in the hot sticky weather. We can't be " up " every day. Don't worry about LA. It may be hot in the summer, but it is not humid like England. California has very dry weather (except for the rainy winter?). It really is true that humidity is worse than heat. Do you have a fan? A fan blowing on me helps when it is hot and sticky. I can't remember if you have a basement. If so, you might try working out down there. It usually a lot cooler in the basement. Guest guest
> I need to set my goal to complete them by Friday. Hey Judie! Don't get down on yourself! The important thing is that you keep setting these goals for yourself! That means you are succeeding. If each time you get just one step closer to your goal, then that means one day you will actually do it just like you had planned! The important thing is that you aren't giving up and I'm very proud of you for that Hang in there....you'll get there one day and it will be so rewarding when you do who knows it's hard not to beat yourself up, but every step you take gets you closer to where you want to be
Guest guest
Judie I'm going to be doing this challenge for a long time until I really truly start to think of myself as a 'morning person' so you're welcome along for as long as it takes. My week is mon-sat (gives me an extra day) and sat is a day I don't have to rush to work so sometime ends up with lots of me-tiem after the workout Try very hard not to be down on yourself *hug* (easier said than done I know) just keep trying to keep facing the direction you want to travel, even if it's a day when you can't make a baby step at least keep facing that way! that's one of the resons I find this group so valuable they remind me to keep facing that way regardless of whatever else is going on... The entire time is almost complete 100% humidity and I feel horrible. During the cooler months, I'm much more active and I look for things to do on top of my regular exercise routine. I think my meds need a little tweeking but nothing too severe. All in all their doing pretty well. I just need to work on my old problem of obsessing over my weight. It seems it all I think about some days and it's just too much already. I'm sick of thinking about it. I still don't know how to eat right, I'm still not eating right or enough. I mean, I'm > not stupid, I know that my eating habits are effecting > my energy or lack thereof> Judie, If you haven't already, maybe you should try Weight Watchers for a few weeks to see where you're lacking in your diet. It'll give you a guideline of how much of each food group you should be taking in each day. I recently tried WW because I had the exercise and the water intake thing down pat and the last thing I had to check was my food intake (I HATE the word diet!!). I stayed with WW for about 3 months, probably longer than I planned, but I came away with some knowledge of how I needed to be eating. WW is good not only for trying to lose weight, but it's a very healthy eating plan as well. Hope that helps, Ann Marie
Guest guest
Thanks Ann Marie, I had thought about WW before but I haven't tried it yet. Do they offer simple meals to choose from? THat's the beauty of that program really, and probably why it works for so many. Its pretty far from a diet, because youa re not restricted from any foods, it just teaches you portion control, and proper eating habits. It teaches you about what foods are higher in fiber, and what foods are high in fat, etc etc. It shows you how to have what you really want, and balance the rest of the day with healthy things. I've watched friends and family go on the pre-packaged plans time and time again - and not only is it costly, but it gets repititious and boring, not to mention the portions can be extra teeny. NOt all these plans take into account someone who does exercise alot, but WW does seem to (even though the still measure success by a scale which in my opinion is a no-no!). Anyways, I've always been a bit of a food lover (hahah!) and i've always had to think hard aobut what I eat. I can tell you that the best way and only way I have found to help myself eat healthy is to cook for myself, and buy groceries that are heatlhy to eat. If I do not prepare my meals, or bring my lunches, the temptations of eating out at my favorite chinese place or pizza place can be too great - especially while on the run! I think F or someone else here mentioned cooking for the week or the month - I have prepared things that are healthy for dinner that I can freeze and use for dinner off and on for a week - on nights I don't have time to cook or nights I don't feel like it. If you do want some handy pre-packaged things, the WW frozen meals are not bad, pretty filling - I often suppliment them with a piece of fruit, or cup of yogurt, or something like that. Also remember cooking doesn't have to take forever or be hard to do. I use my george foreman grill alot to grill chicken breast. I'll put Old bay seasoning on it, or some BBQ sauce, and then make up some instant brown rice, and cook some frozen veggies. This all takes about 15-20 minutes tops to make, and if you defrost your meat ahead of time, even less time! Also lowfat soups and a veggie sandwhich are easy and healthy dinners. The gazpacho recipe that Janick put on here awhile back is a great lunch or dinner - you can have some lowfat crackers, or fruit or whatnot with it. I think WW really helps teach people how to eat properly, so it may be a good thing for you to try. Amy
