Guest guest
I have not been on the board for a while. My name is Glenda a I have a Meld Score 18. I have a new set of side effects I get heart burn in the evening too and my kidneys are not working like they used to. I go to doctor in Jan for colonoscopy, egd, and X-ray. So I am fighting another battle, as soon as I thought I had it down. Glenda ston Welcome to our new members this week. We’re glad you’re here. There’s nothing like the love and support of people who are in your shoes to make us feel better about our situation. We have people here in all stages of dragon fighting – newly diagnosed, on treatment (tx) finished tx (successfully & not), ESLD, pre & post transplant, caregivers. Jump on in an introduce yourselves. Ask questions, don’t be shy. We are a somewhat crazy, loving bunch. In the files section, we have mini-bios on many members and the moderators if you want to know a little about who you’re talking to. I’m aka De aka WWD, 50, in Georgia, genotype 1, 48 wk tx in 2004, clear since wk 12. (I’m a dragon slayer) Check out AOL Money Finance's list of the hottest products and top money wasters of 2007. Guest guest
My name is Virginia and my husband was recently diagnosed with hep c although he has apparently had it for more than 20 years. He remembers being told he could not give blood back when he was around 20 but doesn't remember what they said the reason was. A doctor told him 4 or 5 years ago that he had alcoholic hepatitis. Since we don't have insurance, it's been a tough battle to get the testing that he needs. We have applied for Medicaid disability for him but it can be a good little wait to hear from them. In the meantime, I did get him a doctor that I know to see him without charging us until it comes through. Unfortunately, he is being referred to a specialist that won't see him unless he has been approved for Medicaid or we pay cash up front for the visit. I work for a hospice so we've been able to do some of his blood work here and I just let the local doc know what the results are. Unfortunately, my husband is also an alcoholic who says he wants to quit but is not trying very hard to even cut down. Since I can't get through to him that he is killing himself, I am just monitoring his progress with blood work until (a) he can finally see the specialist or ( his liver up and quits completely on him. He is showing signs of cirrhosis now. Just need a friend to help me through this where I can vent occasionally. Thanks.
Guest guest
Hi Virginia I have been here for about 6 weeks or maybe a little longer. This is a great group they have taught me a lot about Hep c and how to care for myself with it. This has been a great place to talk openly and not feel judged. Nice to meet you Dbanksv2005 wrote: My name is Virginia and my husband was recently diagnosed with hep c although he has apparently had it for more than 20 years. Guest guest
Hi, Virginia. My heart goes out to you as a caregiver and your husband as a Hep. patient. Check with www.pegassist.com They may be able to help you get meds without charge. It's worth a try. Hugs.
