Hi

Nina, welcome to the group. Congrats on successful tx. We will be

praying you will still be clear at 6 months out. You’ve got the

right attitude and it sounds like you’ll be an asset to our family

here. I’m , 50 in GA, clear since 48 wk tx in 2004, so 3

years post-tx or 4 years since I first cleared on tx.

We

have a loving (sometimes a bit crazy) family here. Many are on tx right

now.

Hallo Everyone

My name is Nina. I was

diagnosed with Hep C in 2002. I have

cirrhosis

in late stage. I changed Dr's in Jan.2007. The new Dr. put me on

treatment right away,Pegasys & Ribavirin. I just completed the 48

weeks, last injection was 1-25. My virus level has been undetectable

for the past 5 month. It was a very rough Year, but i went by pretty

fast. I had all the bad side effects you can think of, even lost

most

of my hair. But I am proud of myself for sticking it out and staying

positive thru all this . Beeing positive is so very important !!!!

The

Dr.tells me that after the 6 month labwork if the virus is still

undetectable, i no longer hace Hep C.

I was also injecting Procrit to improve my red blood count. Yes, my

stomach looks like i pin cushion. The red & white bloodcells are

still

very low and so are my platelets. The smallest little scratch and i

bleed right away. Dr. said that all this will go back to normal

after

some time.

I dont know if telling you my story is proper ettiquet for this

group ?

I will be glad to share my knowledge and experience with you. We

need

to support each other, this illnes still has a bad stigma and we

need

to try and change this.

Thank you for taking the time .

Nina

Hi Nina, Congrats for finishing the tx. We too are waiting 6 months. My husband, Jeff, finished up his tx. at the end of Dec. He did not have all the side effects as you did, but he had some, like killer migraines. And you are right, it seems at first that the tx lasts sooo long, but then it is over. Good for you.
