I love this group. Although it doesn't seem to take much to entertain me these days. > > Can you do an overnight UPS ice pack to your destination ? I get my kitty's insulin that way. I can't remember the

name of the other carrier--Brain fog is wonderful. Then you won't have to fight with the airlines. You'd have to have someone sign on the other end. says she only lives 10 minutes away. It may be an option. Or check with your hotel. I've not done tx so I don't know if it has to be ice packed, but it appears from the posts that it does. We may be sending lots of stuff to meet us at our destination with all the airline restrictions. By the way, I DO NOT work for UPS. I just can't remember the names of the other overnight carriers at this time. I am sure diabetics have the same problem. Your decision to not treat shouldn't make you feel unwelcome honey ! I am so sorry you have had it so hard with your mother , dementia is a scarey thing to deal with . And there is nothing wrong with forgettng what you walked into a room for , I do it all the time lol I sometimes even have a cat that follows me into the bathroom but that is ammonia problems . When was your last biopsy ? And how is the weather like in Texas , I have only been there a day and it was winter . Were you in the Navy is that why you lived in pt hueneme ? It seems like the whole city is a naval station lol My boy is there right now but not for much longer . Don't be so shy around us Suzi , we are all a family here !

Re: Meet and Greet

Really enjoyed all the recent posts---but I envy the heck out of all of you. I miss Calif soooo much. Kids were born in Pt Hueneme way back in the early 50's and I lived out there off and on for about 50 yrs. Maybe my Hep C was playing with my brain when I decided to move back to Texas--where I was born and raised to age 17. Also lived in Bullhead City for about 5 yrs. Sorrry ---I was just making a joke about your post, but I should get points for remembering that I read it. Sometimes, I feel rather strange on this post 'cause I decided not to treat, but I had just buried my mom after a number of caretaking years. She had dementia and spent the last year in a wheelchair. I had been more or less caring for her during her long downhill slide (about 16 yrs)--a lot of the time, and all of the last year, in my home. I didn't have much liver damage and treatment was so new and I was 1b---that was 10 years ago. Now, I'm tired a lot and get sooo frustrated when I get up and go into a room and forget why I went there. I've found a few things I put in the micro and forgot about. Well, it does take 6 minutes to cook.

So, thanks, everyone for just being here and knowing I can read about your lives---mine is sooooooo boring. I live alone and have for years. I loved my "independence" and now wonder what the hell I was thinking of. I should have been learning how to be dependent and rally others to care for me. I think I said "No thanks, I can do it myself" once too often.

Glad you decided to jump in again, , we really are all like family here,

whether treating or not, you're not alone!

And our Big Chief must now be in Texas, busy unpacking, no doubt.

What part are you in? I have Grands outside of Dallas..

Good luck !!! > > > Quinn> > > In the swamp in secluded recesses, a shy and hidden bird is warbling a song. Walt Whitman>

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome.

Let's see, Steph--I looked up Quitman and it is on my way to Shreveport where I hope to move when I get my act together. Quitman is in the beautiful piney woods about 150 miles northeast of where I live now. I do go near every month or so as my daughter is already in Shreveport. I bought us each a place there with my Calif house proceeds---just haven't moved. If you want to email me direct her phone number or email, I'll let her know next time I head that way. I hope to make a trip soon as there is a great blueberry farm just off the highway north of Tyler and June is the season. Also, I am in an HMO in Shreveport, so my medical is based there.

Debbie--yes I know SF valley well. My mom taught at Poly for years. I attended Van Nuys High in would you believe 1946? My first waitress job was at Bob's Big Boy in San while they still had carhops. I was a navy wife at Port Hueneme and moved back to the Valley when my husband was sent overseas. Don't forget to take B100 with that Berkson regime and a multi vitamin. Smalk just posted all his supplements recently and uses Berkson too.

And Jackie, my prayers and thoughts have been with you. Glad your daughter is home.

And Sheena--you are a doll !!!

So, one day when I get settled, I will find out how my liver is doing. Doctors just keep saying my enzymes are slightly elevated. I will never forget when I was diagnosed by Kaiser in Calif. the doctor barely spoke English and when I asked what that meant---he said "It mean you have".
