They are not twisting my guts around to stop GERD symptoms. It is too the point where you cant trust anyone anymore. Everyone is trying to sell something. cardiovascular events, refractory hypomagnesemia and rebound reflux symptoms etc. The risk-benefit ratio of PPIs is increasingly recognized as being less favourable. This leads to a more critical viewpoint and raises the question whether the side-effects of PPIs may outweigh the benefits, especially with long-term use. The side-effects of PPIs seem to make a strong argument in favour of laparoscopic fundoplication in the treatment of GERD.

No, unless they looked for it in the biopsy I had last year. I stopped the omeprazole again and will see how it goes. I know it will suck for the next 2 weeks, but after that it usually gets undercontrol if I am careful with what I eat. But, i am about 20lbs heavier than the last time I went off it. Yeah. That helps. I can get the same thing by building a wedge of pillows. Mostly my problems are not nighttime heartburn, but daytime. Nighttime is solved by taking a swig out of the pepto bottle as needed. It has been a while since I have ad to deal with it because the PPI works. I will revive all my old tricks as the symptoms pop out.
