False Positive(?)

I recently went in to donate blood for a friend who was ill.. I

received a call back from the blood bank asking me to come in. ONce

there, was told that my intial test came back postive and that they

were running an additional test to verify but the results wouldnt be

in until after the first of the year. Received the call today where

they explained the second test was negative but that I shouldnt rule

out the possiblity that it could actually be positive. They

suggested that I see my primary care physician in a few months,

explain the issue(they are sending me all the paperwork to take also)

and have them rerun the tests.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? What would cause that to

happen? I'm so confused and scared to death not knowing how I could

have contracted it or if I actually have it and it just

isnt " showing up " in my system yet.

Yes these things DO unfortunately happen, it could be

that the person running the test did not clean the

equipment between tests properly and your positive

might be contamination from the previous test he ran

on another person.. so follow his advice and see your

own doc and have it re-run to be sure...

I hope that you are negative, this is a mean disease

and I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy..

God Bless and Merry Christmas or whatever way you

celebrate this time of the year!
