Guest guest
My husband (42yo) had lapro (robotic assisted) left adrenalectomy on 12/9. Biopsy showed 0.9mm adrenal adenoma. It was a 4 1/2 hr surgery and he was well enough to be discharged home the next evening. Had some issues w/increased Cr and low K in hospital right after surg, but both quickly resolved. He stated he would not call adrenalectomy a fun experience (he stated it felt like he was " stabbed " 4 times) however the results have been really good. BP widely fluctuated first 2 days home, but quickly stablized. He was taking 40meq QD of K pre-surg-today his K today was 4.7. Pre-surg taking Inspra 100mg QD, imdur, lisinopril, hydralazine, atenolol, clonidine - today doctor states only needing atenolol (will need lifetime for SVT) and inspra to taper down to 50mg QD. Doctor drew aldasterone/ renin today and if levels are back w/in normal range, Inspra will be d/c. BP's last 3-4 days consistently in 110/80 range or lower. He tried 2500mg of Na yesterday (up from the 1300mg DASH) and Na caused " spike " of 125/90 instead of 190/110. He has more energy, less brain fog and less anxiety 1 week post-op than he did 1 year ago! We both will continue on a modified DASH diet as we have seen the overall health benefits of lower Na diet. Have only been on this forum for 2 months prior to adrenalectomy (which I had found it 2-3 years ago!), but appreciate the advice, especially about DASHing. This was the ONLY thing that helped his BP pre-surg. I feel the controlled BP pre-surgery contributed to his quick recovery/less complications post-surg. I am grateful for this. I have given or will give his doctors your Evolution of PA for the next patient they see w/PA. Like others here he had a long-road to dx/correct tx. I am so glad to have my husband w/normal BP starting to feel like himself again...it's nice to have him back :-) Thanks again,
