Guest guest
So, it has been over 2 months now since i switched from Spiro to Inspra and I thought I would share the effects it has had on me so far. I do think the dose was to low, but my doc wouldnt increase it over 50mg. I was on 100mg of Spiro when i stopped it.The gyno pain is pretty much gone. Swelling is less, minimal itching, not growing bigger breasts, etc. All good stuff. The greatest improvement has been mentally. My ability to focus at work as been increased 3 fold. I have written more code in the last 2 months than i have over the last 2 years. I almost feel like I got my intelligence back...not like it was, but a heck of alot better than even a few months ago.I still remain very irritable, but I am not sure how much that is related to PA vs. just being generally pissed off at my employer for offshoring jobs and firing my friends. I have not been this mad about something like that for quite a while, so it has to be having an impact on me that has nothing to do with PA. Maybe PA makes me more moody, but it isnt the source of my frustration. The anger makes me sleep poorly, which makes everything hurt more.My breathing seems better, but I think that has been steadily improving after stopping HCTZ in May.My weight has stoppping climbing, but i have not lost any either.I have noticed a little bit of leg adema that was totally gone on HCTZ.BP remains at goal. Overall, I still worry a bit about the long term side effects and lack of long term studies for Inspra vs Spiro, but the sideeffects in my everyday life are certainly much better. Would I pay the 7-10 fold increase out of my own pocket? I guess it depends. If I still have my job or at least my level of income, I could justify it. But, if I lost my job and had no insurance, I dont think I could get myslef to pay $700 per month for it. I think it is BS that it costs that much anyway. I highly doubt it costs more than a few pennies per pill to make it. ============================================================================45-Male-Caucasian, 5'9"- 242lbs, PA Diagnosed 2007 Suspected Hyperplasia-No tumors on CT - No AVS.Meds: 50mg Inspra, 40meq Potassium, 2400mg Calcium, 1000mg Magnesium, 100,000UI Vit D (weekly), 20mg OmeprazoleSide effects: Gynecomastia, stomach inflammation (from potassium citrate)Other Diags: GERD, Hiatal Hernia, Metabolic Syndrome - PreDiabetic, Secondary Hyperparathyroidism caused by Renal calcium leak, Bone Cyct in left Femoral Head and Pelvis. Guest guest
Sounds like we are on the right track. Also sounds like you need more epeler. You might want to take in an article on the use of Eplerenone in HTN in general for you MD so he is up to date. Flack J is first author on a good trial report from PUBMED. But I would do a pub med on eplerenone in HTN to be sure there is not something more recent.Someone here said it can be gotten thru Walmart with a $5 copay as I recall. Guest guest
It's me. I pay $5 copayment for eplerenone with my Medicare Advantage Insurance. It's our local University of PA Medical Center insurance. And BTW, copayment doesn't depend on a dosage. Guest guest
Excellent so if you are Medicare and have the advantage it is $5 per month independent of the dosage. It's me.
