Guest guest
Go figure Les........I just got my newsletter from "The Worst and Best Pills" today. First DO NO TAKE MED........CRESTOR. They say it is the worst of all the new statins for kindey and muscle damage. It was stopped in trails because the 80mg was killin ppl. It has to have special reqmnts to be given out at 40 mgs. I will give them back to him on Tues and ask for Zocor. Ya get kicked in the ass at every corner. POOP! Great that you checked it out! My neuropathy came on me for the first time with this drug. I'd try the Zocor, too, much better choice,it's been around awhile . They always say that a person should wait at least 5 years before trying a new drug, because otherwise, we are the guinea pigs. With a cholesterol of 368,(and heart disease ) I know I should be on something too. Good luck with everything, you've had so much happen, and I hope things start looking up for you! Hugs, Les. Guest guest
I've just been reading The Cholesterol Controversy by Russel L which gives full details and figures of all the trials you're basing your need to lower your cholesterol on. It is amazing - totally gobsmacking - absolute rot and lies - with graphs contorted and adjusted to show what they wanted to show and hide the truth. Basically the difference in your cholesterol levels - high, low or whatever, makes such a ridiculously miniscule difference to your risk, that what you had in your salad one day last year by way of herbicide or pesticide is just as big a risk. Basically no-one knows. Except the drug companies certainly know that nothing whatever in their trials demonstrated anything at all about cholesterol levels. What's even worse, I bet your doc and even your consultant, are brainwashed too. They won't have bothered to look into and question the research. I know a lot of you aren't convinced, but believe the cholesterol skeptics - interfering with your cholesterol - your own personal protection system - is far more dangerous. Guest guest
If you had pain with one statin, you are bound to get it with another; they all work the same way. Also the damage can be worse with the second one. My advice is to stop it immediately. Pam

Guest guest
Crestor is the one that Public Citizen, the lobbying group, is trying to get banned because of the death rate from muscle degeneration, almost as bad as Baycor, which was banned. You'd never tell it from the Crestor people's publicity, though. Guest guest
My bad cholesterol was over 300 and my good cholesterol was 7 (yup that is single digit 7), I tried quite few statins with no effective results. In a month period Crestor lowered my cholesterol to 168 and increased my good cholesterol to 35, I am now at 122/48.Before taking Crestor I did some research and problems with Crestor were reported at a 50mlg a day dose, I am taking 10mlg.I am not defending or promoting Crestor, I am just sharing my personal experience with the product, and it is a good one. Wow! That is impressive! Better than anything I have seen. Of course, everyone responds so differently! Guest guest
, Crestor is not a new drug, I have been taking it for almost a year with great results and no side effects. According to my doctor Crestor is the only Cholesterol lowering drug capable of also increasing good cholesterol, something I have experienced my self. Guest guest
I read posts like " kjadnmutts@... Guest guest
there ARE many many doctors who take statins. the medical community believes in their utility and there have been NO phase IV studies to look at long term side effects, so without scientific proof, doctors remain unconvinced of any but CPK evidenced muscle damage. i also am amazed at the defensiveness of physicians when statin induced injury is discussed. but that defensiveness does not come from protecting the pharm industry or even themselves--it derives from a profound belief in the positive effects of statins. the only physicians who are open to the possibility of statin induced damage are the ones who have experienced it themselves or with a loved one. but doctors also order the same medications for each other as they do for their non medical patients. there is no conspiracy. docs follow the guidelines set up by the NIH heart health committee, and feel they are practicing great medicine when doing so. I am of the belief that those who suffer the side effects found among the members of this group have a genetic varibility that interacts with statins to produce either a disease or side effect --however small that percentage of people suffering is--given the millions who are on this class of drugs, the potential number of statin injured could be enormous. > I read posts like " kjadnmutts@a... Guest guest
Dr. Grim My salt intake as well as other food components have usually been constant factors. Medication combo also the same except switching Pravastatin to Crestor. From the sudden rise of urine alb/crea it appears that I need to be very careful about Crestor side effects and do not let it continue for long period similar to the time when I was totally ignorant about these drugs and suffered by for example nasal congestion for several years due to HCTZ and low K…etc. Max.62M L adenoma by NP59 scan. Guest guest
Hmm nasal congest no likely related to HCTZ. Clonidine?CE Grim MD Dr. Guest guest
Most likely due to high salt/K ratio due to food at specific days. Max. Hmm nasal congest no likely related to HCTZ. Clonidine? CE Grim MD

Guest guest
If I remember correctly, I found out that my nasal congestion was due to nasal walls inflammation because when I took K-citrate 25mEq at that time it reduced inflammation and I could sleep with smooth breaking. Guest guest
Actually my doc prescribed Vaseline to rub inside my nose before sleep. But my cousin used to add so much salt to their food that after having their food I had to get up at nights and blow nose hot water and rub Vaseline but to little or no avail. By trial and error I discovered that after salty dinner at their home I could have a glass of K-citrate 25mEq or more and sleep like a baby J No BPH meds but several years ago I had episodes of scrotal pain and took a ultrasound with normal results and I guess you told me it had been due to low K because it was during the period that my doc had no clue how much K I needed.
