Guest guest
Who used which treatment? I've read the information on the study that was done, but just wanted everyone's personal input on why they choose one over the other. Fem Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
When My hubby did tx and when I did tx we both used Schering.. WHY??? That was who both our dr's gave us the # for... The Commitment to Care number... No reason for us other than that. d Re: [HepatitisCSupportG roupForDummies] Roche vs Schering Who used which treatment? Guest guest
Hi D, As I already said, I am not very happy with the "Dr" situation as it stands right now. But I can't do anything about it, because I'm not the patient. The reason I asked is, the PA gave us information on both, and it seems as if my hubby will be able to choose which treatment to do. Guest guest
I was not given a choice, the docs office set it up with my ins. pharmacy, and the pharmacy considered it a specialty drug. I used what they sent. Hope every one is doing well.Donna Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
My dr uses Roche. I was wondering if it really matters. Aren't they the same meds? Guest guest
The two pegylated Interferon's are the same, just made a little different chemically. Pegylation is polyetheline glycol, which is antifreeze, that's what makes the drugs float around in our systems longer. Before that hepper's had to take several shot's a week and they didn't have the prefilled syringes like we do. Roche labs makes Pegasys and Ribovirin. If you talk to a lot of people that have tried both. it seems Roche's product has a little more mild sides. Schering Plough makes Pegintron and Rebetol. Rebetol is the same thing as Ribavirin. Your Doctor should give you a choice, because their is little difference. If they don't they are probably getting wined and dined by one of the makers. Ribavirin is what causes most of the problems. It seems to make you very irritable, on the edge, some say they feel wired and can't sleep, it also makes some very aggressive. There have been people on the drugs that have hurt themselves and hurt others. Some even fatal. That's where the Anti-D's came from. Most Hepatologist's will not start your treatment unless you see a Psych DR. and get on an antidepressant. It doesn't matter how cool and collective you are. Talk to your DR or PA's. Write your questions down, take them with pen and paper to your appointment. Some PA's or Physician's assistant's are as good or better than a physician. Ask them questions, like what got you interested in treating Hep C and working with Hepatitis patient's. Be informed and best thoughts for all of you treating. Guest guest
Thanks for this information. The pa he's seeing has only been working with hep c patients for 7 months. Guest guest
Pegasys for me. Doctor picked. Afterward we talked about it. We both heard it seemed to have less sides. Comes in pre-filled syringes. Re: Roche vs Schering Who used which treatment? Guest guest
They’re almost the same, but not quite. That’s why if one doesn’t work, you can try the other. Guest guest
FEM ~~ I'm so grateful that your husband has invited you into the situation. You are such a support to him and things will be so much better for him with you by his side. My doctor also gave me the choice between the two companies and I went with the Pegysis brand. I had just heard more about it, so familiarity was a factor. However, the biggest deciding factor for me was the pre-measured syringes so that I don't have to pull the medication into the syringe from a vial. I thought that one less step would make me less nervous about the process. Another thing I did in making my decision was to go to each of the medication's websites and check them out. They were very informative and had a wealth of information. God be with you through this all, FEM wrote: Who used which treatment?
