Guest guest
thanks Gail! I was hoping that is the way it will be as we have an out of town trip in 2 weeks to see our daughter perform and I hate for him to be so sick he can't function and enjoy it since it is her senior year and her last time in the all district band. Guest guest
He should get the same reaction as the first time.Chills the first time and after the other shots out of sorts for a couple of days and thats about it from what I hear. Hot water bottle for the feet or electric blanket and take two tylenol after shot. Sorry I haven't had a chance to respond to all the mail. Happy Birthday to those I have missed, welcome to the new people etc. Also belated Merry Christmas and early Happy New Year! (Have I covered everything? LOL) Anyway, my hubby got his meds and is starting treatment tonight. I do have a question though - I can read things all day that are with the meds etc but can only get a true feel from you who have gone thru it. When he did interferon in 2000 he was only really sick with the flu like symptoms for a couple of days after the first shot - now he going to be taking Peg-intron once a week - do you get the symptoms every shot or does your body adjust? I have stocked up on stuff that should be easy on his stomach etc and he and I have discussed how important his water intake is. I also got him some new warmer pajamas cause last time he got chills really bad. Any other tips? Am I missing anything? I really appreciate all of you in the group and value your input extremely. Guest guest
Thanks ! I have tons of body and hand lotions for him and we have always used bag balm for the family so it is in the house as well. We went out on a date tonight since we figure it may be a while before he feels like doing much outside of home. Guest guest
Just the first shot should be bad. I think I got chills on one other shot (#4 or 5). He’ll probably get the chills 6-10 hours after the shot. I got the sweats after the chills, too. Sounds like you’re well prepared. If he gets really itchy later (not right away – in a couple weeks), get some good lotion and/or Aveeno oatmeal baths or Aveeno bath & shower oil to douse him in. I even used Bag Balm (for cows udders) for my dry cracked skin. Hubby starting tx Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't had a chance to respond to all the mail. Guest guest
, you know enough to know the first weekend isn’t an indicator of how the rest will go. It’s pouring rain here. A good long weekend to hang out at the house anyway. Very true. I do remember that last time his first weekend was a lot worse than this one has been. I am a strong believer in the fact that your state of mind going into it helps somewhat as well.
