Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to give everyone an update. So I went to Shriners in Philly, PA this

morning. I didnt have her (Marly's) x-rays (lying down, 23 degree curve)from the

pediatric ortho she had seen on 8/28/09 b/c I had gotten this appt so quick and

the ortho is far away. Anyways, they took x-rays of her sitting up and her curve

is at 56 degrees. Is that a big difference? Well, the dr suggested she be put in

a brace for a month and then if its not getting better or is getting worse then

she will be casted. I have to bring the other x-rays with me when I go back to

pick up the brace.

They already put her name on the OR list. I was really hoping for a better

prognosis, I thought she would resolve on her own but there's still time, I

guess. I have so many questions that I didnt think of when I was told it was

progressing.

My daughter is barely sitting by herself. Will she continue with her

'milestones'. Will she crawl and walk with the brace or cast on? Will it be

later than 'the norm'? How do you bath them with a cast on? How long do they

generally wear casts for?

he said her back is flexible, which is a good thing.

Any comments or info greatly appreciated!

Again, thanks to everyone for all the info before I went to this appt.

Otherwise, I would have gone in completly blindsided. It put me more at ease.
