Has anyone else had problems? I've had problems, and my chiropractor said pretty much what you just said. TaeBo doesn't cause the problems, but it can aggravate problems that are already there. The kicks give my back a lot of trouble. I was thinking that I may have to modify all my workouts from now on and not do the kicks at all. That way I can still do my TaeBo and get the full benefits without aggravating my back. -- Sandy http://home.earthlink.net/~diamonique/sisterlocks/journey.html " A celebrity is one who is known to many persons he is glad he doesn't know. Guest guest
I think from my measurements that I have lost about 3 inches from my hips. I don't want to stop doing something that is helping me, but I can't be hurting all the time either. What other exercises that he does could cause your hips to lose inches? Guest guest
> Hi everyone. I have been doing tae-bo going on my fourth week now. I have a question about injuries. I have had trouble in the past with things getting out of wack and it had been about 5 months since I had been. I guess I really need to go at least once a month to keep things in order. Well, I think tae-bo just speed things along. I don't think that is to blame but when I did my basic this morning without the roundhouse kicks I can feel my problems all over again and I just got an adjustment last night. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had problems? Janet, I don't know your specific physical problem, but I do know that several of us encountered physical problems when we started doing taebo because our form wasn't correct. I had problems in my ankle (until I started wearing better shoes), knee (until I made sure that my knee on my supporting leg didn't extend over my toes), hips (from not turning my knee out enough and trying to kick too high in crescent kicks), and hamstrings (from not bending backwards on front kicks). All the injuries went away once I corrected my form. I highly recommend that you do the instructional tape whenever you can and read 's book, the Taebo Way. It has great pictures of the correct and wrong form. Good luck. By the way, I have a lower back injury (I had surgery 10 years ago) and taebo has actually relieved the pain and made me stronger. I hope that you can keep doing taebo. Elena

We do some front kicks, but mostly punching and knee raises. I get as a good, if not better (I know that sounds terrible, but it is a live class) workout in that class as I do from taebo. You can work your abs well doing upper body moves and knee raises. Elena

Guest guest
Janet I agree with Elena's advice about form, it's very important esp if you have problems. You also have to listen to your body more, and the second it tells you it's not happy with a move modify or walk out the rest of that set. I've had problems with my back, shoulders and neck in recent years, and have to be careful, even more so trying to do workouts first thing when I am so very stiff, that's when I have to 'listen' the hardest. Doing some experiments with moves might help you explore how your body is feeling, and if then you can isolate the particular movement that cause problems the chiro may be able to advise. I don't know the names of these exercises, so forgive me if the descriptions sound weird. You know the one where you bend the knees slightly and step out to the side and back/out to the side and back, and each time you move your foot out to the side you also raise both arms to shoulder length with arms bent. This works hamstrings, front thigh muscles, hips, and shoulders. The uppercuts are good for the hips when done in a good squatting position too. These are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Any suggestions? Has anyone else had >problems? It could be that you need to give the injured area a complete rest. Even though you got an adjustment last night, that doesn't mean that all the pain will be gone the next day. Chiro works over time. Even though you haven't explained specifically where your pain is, you sound a lot like I did when I started having back problems. I kept trying to work out, and kept having pain. I finally had to stop altogether, and it was months before I started working out again -- last week actually. I'm now going to a chiropractor, but I know it will be months before the treatments have completely fixed my problem, and I don't want to aggravate it any further during that time. So I'm just going to stop kicking. If you know which specific exercise causes you pain, just don't do that one at all. Do something else instead. And I also agree with others who have said to go back to the instructional tape. You'd be surprised how many problems are caused by doing the moves incorrectly. 's book, The TaeBo Way, is perfect for showing exactly what you're doing wrong. I *highly* recommend this book for everyone who is doing TaeBo. -- Sandy
Guest guest
Well, my pain is specifically in the pelvis area so basically " my butt " and in my neck. Those are the areas that I have had trouble with in the past couple years. I never had trouble and then my body had a " meltdown " a couple years ago and chiropractor told me it was years worth. It happened after I dug up a flower bed. I had to get rid of my waterbed and spent $500.00 on a mattress (not including the boxspring). I just put the mattress in our waterbed frame. So it would really be wise for me to go every month for an adjustment, but I don't. Can I get his book in any bookstore? That sounds like something I would need to read. What other exercises that he does could cause > your hips to lose inches? Janet, Congratulations on the inches lost! That is so great! Any of the floorwork will help you in the hip area. If you have the studio advanced tape, you could slowly start adding some of the floorwork into your workout! Also, does some standing ab work that is good for the hips/butt.....like standing on your supporting leg and keeping your other leg straight out to the side and lifting it up, while bringing the arm down to meet the leg. That one works the abs and the butt/hip area!

Guest guest
Hi! I have back & knee problems myself, but so far haven't had *much* trouble with Taebo, but I have 3 suggestions: 1. Ask your chiropractor for suggestions--let him know what you're doing & what moves are giving you problems.. 2. Modify 3. Don't give up--just do what you can & walk through rest!
