Oh, that's rough. My red & white blood cells have kept dropping. Doc says he'd have to to cut back on treatment if I didn't respond to neupogen and procrit.

I took one of my twice a week neupogen shots last night. I woke up nauseous and I ache all over, that's one reason why the treatment doesn't necessarily get better. Anyone else dread that shot?

Within three months of treatment I was sick all the time and tired.I was on the old treatment of interferon at three shots a wk.Try to go to the drugstore and ask the drugest to give you 1000mg of Vitamin B12 With folic acid. Each morning put 2pills==2000mg under your tongue and let it disolve. It helps to increase energy and get some Ensure or Boost to help with food intake. He has to drink a gallon of water a day whether it be juice, water, weak decaf tea, stuff like that.Tell him to rest when he needs to and keep praying.

It is worth it if it means you clear the virus.I am genotype 1 and I cleared after 52wks.

Pat this extra shots is what is keeping you on treatment.Without them you would have to stop treatment and do it again later on again and probably have to take the extra drugs to help you through it.Your in my prayers hon,but I can also see that your doctor really wants you to complete treatment successfully and these extra meds are helping you to fight and beat this dragon.

Congrats, Gail, you are

the first case of genotype 1 that I’ve heard of that cleared.

Tell me more about your case.

Also for B-12, Dibencozide with Folic Acid

is readily available in the form the body uses.

If a person takes cyanocobalamin, the body

(liver) has to convert it.

Iherb carries the good forms.

Several on this site have cleared as far as no viral load goes.I will always test positive for hep c but negative for viral load.I was treated in 1998-99 for 52wks of interferon at three shots a wk and 5 riboveron tablets a day that within three wks they had to cut the pills down to 3 a day.It was hell.I lost 40 pounds and after 10 months of treatment I was down to 70 pounds and still had two more months of treatment to go.MY family doctor thought it was going to kill me,but like I said only the good die young,I will last forever.

There are about 10-15 on this site that have cleared ,so keep plugging away.Take care and have faith.

You say of the hundreds of members that

this list has on 10 – 15 have cleared the virus?. I’m not

well this morning and trying to comprehend. Once you clear the virus you

still test pos for hep c cause you have antibodies. But when they test

load it’s neg if you’ve cleared via treatment. I’m

genotype 1, just passed at my 4 month viral count. And… my

challenge now is to keep the dragon don for another 28 weeks. How often

do people lose the battle after ( if the can continue treatment) after this

point?

Being negative for viral load does mean undetectable.Treatment at this time is between 50-70% successful with genotype 1.When I had treatment it was only 40% successful so the treatment is getting a lot better and easier as far as sides go.

Kim I don't know everyone on the list. When this group was small still there were about 10 or 15 that cleared but that was quite awhile ago.A lot of the ones that clear do not stay for long after they have cleared.About 15 that did clear stayed to help in group. The success rate is 50-70% for genotype 1 depending on how you do during treatment,if they have to cut it short or like some have to do treatment longer then usual. The doctors are starting to realize that they have to go back to longer treatments to have more success stories. They do longer treatments in Europe for a while now.You are on treatment. You have to think possitive and shoot for being a success story.
