Guest guest
Dear ,Question comes up all the time. I'm finishing my 3rd year of medical school & beginning to look at Ob/Gyn residency programs. I'm having a hard time finding any that are open to having an NFP only resident. Even programs at Catholic hospitals say I need to be willing to go " off-site " and prescribe contraceptives & perform sterilizations. The only advice I've gotten thus far is to switch my focus to Family Practice where it is more accepted. I do not wish to do this, as I am hoping to one day complete a fellowship with Dr. Hilgers, so that I can work in the area of NaPro Technology. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them.PS- I have been a member of this group for a few years now & truly enjoy all of the information that is shared. Guest guest
Dear , I know State University Dayton OH has an NFP only resident in the OBGYN residency. He delivered Steve’s Koob grandson Diego. I believe Dr. Hilgers’s son is doing OB in the Methodist Houston TX. http://www.methodisthealth.com/basic.cfm?id=36717 Don’t loose heart, God will take you to the right place. You never know what door is going to open. Here is a real story: As a requirement for the training as a Medical Consultant Dr. Hilgers asks the professionals to provide talks to fellow physicians. Usually you end up providing talks to your friends who are well aware of the message and something like being the main speaker for the Ground Rounds of the OBGYN department of the biggest hospital in town will never happen. My wife knocked on the door of the biggest hospital here, I have already try the small hospital and they did not want to hear anything about natural family planning. The door open, we had an appointment with the director of the OBGYN department and surprisingly enough when we enter into his office, he had a picture of him with Pope Benedict XVI. He was also a physician in Colombia South America the place where my wife and I are from. Sure enough we had the pleasure to talk about natural family planning in the Ground Rounds of the OBGYN department. That day was the feast day of one of the Archangels I believe if I am not mistaken. Keep knocking until door opens. Guest guest
, I'm currently a 2nd year in what I would venture to boast is the " MOST " pro-life OB/GYN residency in the USA today! I'm at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Am I Biased? Perhaps, but we have a great program here. Of the 12 residents, 6 of us are " Authentically Catholic " (NFP-only). Our program director, Dr. Pivarunas, is extremely supportive of us, and it is great to have the support of so many of my fellow residents. Feel free to contact me about my experience here: jaimerehmann@... Other places I strongly considered in my search were St. 's Mercy in St. Louis, MO, and Methodist in Houston, TX. Both have other Authentically Catholic residents (Methodist has 2 I believe, as does St. 's). We need to centralize this information...Steve, I used the One More Soul database when I was looking for residencies, and we need to update that with more recent information, since this question comes up fairly regularly. I'll see about gathering the experiences of people who have recently been through the search/interview/acceptance process. Rehmann, D.O., PGY2 > > Hello, > > My name is Restivo Padley. Guest guest
Thanks . What a great story! I'll keep that in mind as I continue in this process. I'll add these 2 hospitals to my list as well. Guest guest
Thank you for your warm response Dr. Rehmann. I'll definitely be contacting you with more questions. It sounds like a great environment to in which to learn! In Christ, > > > > Hello, > > > > My name is Restivo Padley.
