Flu Shot

Hi, Kim. You will have to ask your doc about flu shots for kids. I think

there is information on the web about this too.

Also, they suggest that healthy people around others in ill-health get a flu

shot early too, so they don't get sick and spread it.

More info on flu shot availability

I read an article in the Sacramento Bee the other day that said the fu shot

is available now for those at risk ( like us), and will be widely available

later for the general population. Apparently, it took longer this year to

get the vaccines figured out, produced, and distributed than usual.

So if you ask for a shot, and are denied due to limited availability, speak

up and state that you are at risk, and why.

I doubt if this will affect any of us. Most doctors that treat auto-immune

disorders and elderly should have it in stock.

I just wanted to inform everyone just in case one of us runs into SNAFU.

  • 7 years later...

I was wondering if anybody gets the flu shot?!

I personally am afraid of the flu shot and what it is they give you. However,

I'm also afraid of getting sick. Not as much for my sake, but mostly for

Hadley's(age 2 in her 7th cast).

I dont know if any of your children get like this, but when Hadley gets sick and

gets a fever, her fever is exaggerated so much because her cast holds the heat

in. We first realized this when we were rushed to the local Children's Hospital

because of a fever over 104 degrees when the next day we took her back in and

found out she only has an ear infection. Or the time my older daughter(4) got a

little bug going around and got a fever of 99/100, but then Hadley got it and

had a fever up to 103.7. It kind of scars me that her fevers get so high bc of

her cast!

So, all that to say, I'm questionable about the flu shot for her sake. Any

experience or advice would be great if anybody has any!

Thanks

Shauna
