Guest guest
Tammy, So sorry you're going through this, this sounds like a mess! They really need to improve on their communication with you. Werve never had that problem at SLC- do you directly contact the Care Coordinator there? I hope you get the right care ASAP and that your whole houshold gets well, soon!Heidi, Bexon's Mama, (2 years old, in 3rd cast from Salt Lake City Shriners, currently down from 61 degrees to 25) Subject: The Runaround and CastTo: infantile_scoliosis Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 4:53 AM Well Matt and I was suppose to get a cast on in Chicago this week but we had a few snags. Two weeks ago we went to Chicago and talked to the Doctor. We were suppose to have a call by last Monday telling me what date we were going to get the cast on. But I didn't get the call. I gave them until Tuesday and then started calling. I called Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Left a lot of messages. Finally on Thursday morning I catch someone. They begin to tell me that we couldn't get the cast on until he see's his pediatrician for an okay. Well it's not that easy to get an appointment last minute. So I called the pediatrician and they said they might be able to get him in on Monday or Tuesday of this week. Then I called Shriners b/c they provide the rides for us. The lady told me that there is probably no way she could get train tickets set up Tuesday and me get the tickets so we could go up today. Well we set everything up though. We were going to try like heck to do it. But I kept wondering why they didn't tell me that he needed to go to the pediatrician in the first place. Normally unless he had been sick they don't tell me to go. I was also wondering why they didn't return my calls at all. If he needed the cast so bad I would have thought those would be the first thing they do is tell me to take him to his doctor to get the okay and then call me with the cast date. Anyway it didn't work out to get the cast on anyhow. My whole house ended up with an upper respitory infection this week. I don't know how that worked that 5 people got it al at once. But it did so no cast now. Since we have to wait for matt to get healthy again we went ahead and are going to try and get a second opinion. I have filled out paper work for St. Louis to get a second opinion and to see if they would do surgery if he really absolutely has to have it. Guest guest
Thanks. I was really hoping to get that cast on before this stuff starts. It seems that every fall around harvest time for the farmers all the boys get sick. So while he is sick I figure I would try and go ahead and get an appointment with another doctor to see if he says a cast over surgery or if they have the stuff to do surgery on Matt. Maybe it's just my way of thinking but I was hoping that if they say he does need surgery they will get it scheduled before he is suppose to go to school. The parents that have kids going to school. How do you deal with your kids missing school? Do they end up missing a lot and how do you do the homework? > > > > Subject: The Runaround and Cast > To: infantile_scoliosis > Date: Wednesday, September 2, 2009, 4:53 AM > > > > > > > Well Matt and I was suppose to get a cast on in Chicago this week but we had a few snags.
