My daughter started her period yesterday. i was a little overwhelm.

When I started telling her what she had to do ,she began to laugh.

She seem not to be upset by any of it. the blood, pads nothing. She

seem to understand everything i told her .I need some feedback from

the group on how some of your girls handle this. christina is ten

and has very limited speech. She uses sign and pecs to communicate

more than words.

i dread when my christine gets her period! i wish there was some way to

avoid it!

maybe it would be worth putting her on birth control pills just so we know

how long it will be and when exactly it will start, but then that would cause

other problems maybe with just being on the pill....

as completely stressed as i am right now with all of the issues we deal with

on a daily basis i just completely (cant think of a word strong enough to use)

DREAD her starting her period!

right now i am just soooo tired! i feel like ive been whipped and run over by

a truck! and yeah, feeling sorry for myself... it happens every once in a

while! wondering what it would be like not having to fight over absolutely

everything... i am tired.... need another nap. everything will be better when

i wake up.

Debbie my daughter is mild Aspergers and ADHD with multiple LD issues but

she is taking to the monthly things very negative and is much want of to

trun into a boy now. she has the care and keeping of you book she hides it

under her bed. the school gave us a video created for young girls on the

topic and missy watched of it but no real questions or thinking on it. She

has been dressing much like of tom boy lately I to not discourage it as I to

feel she to have right to explore things but also reward and give much

verbal responses to her when she demonstrates her feminine side such as to

want a doll or a dress or such things. but I to no tbe of negative to her

when she wants of a boy thing I to not just praise it .

Congrats to you and your daughter. It's a shame it had to start so early,

but your daughter seems to be handeling it more than you thought she would.

Same thing with my daughter...I thought she'd freak out because in the past

she's get hysterical if she had a bloody nose. And as I went through very

early menopause, I only had 1 or 2 occasions that I could show her that it

happened to me and that it didn't hurt or scare me.

As for the PEC system, I'm sure her teacher could make some up to help

prepare her for the next time it will happen. I also mark it on the calendar

so that knows when it will come. became very regular shortly

after her 2nd cycle.

Relax...remember our girls sense when we are upset. If you relax and act

like this is a normal part of her daily routine, hopefully things will

continue to go smoothly. (:
