Guest guest
Hey There!! I would run a kidney panel too, just to be on the safe side. You would NEVER forgive yourself if an infection went untreated. My daughter was just checked for a UTI, but she also has menstrual problems, and they is causing her pelvic discomfort. But, I had to rule out the infection as well. Good Luck to your daughter. I've had those kidney panels and 24 hour urine, and the blood work that went with it. It's not bad except for the 24 hour urine one. I had those 4 times!! Debi wrote: Have you ever had a kidney function panel run on her? Sometimes people with ASD can have some kidney issues. It's probably just the UTI, though. Debi --- In Autism_in_Girls , " joancoll13 " Interesting that the dr. said > there were trace proteins in her urine, which can be caused by the > infection. Guest guest
All it is is a urine/and or blood test that checks how well the kidneys are filtering out wastes. Protein is something that a tip off that there COULD be a problem, but there are normal people that excrete protein in trace amounts What is the panel-7 test? The panel-7 test involves 7 different tests to measure 7 different chemicals in the blood: sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, glucose, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine. It is also called an electrolyte panel. Why is this test done? This test is done to check for: kidney problems acids in your blood a sodium or potassium problem diabetes. How do I prepare for this test? Your health care provider may ask you to fast for several hours before the test. You may need to avoid taking certain medicines before the test because they might affect the test result. Make sure your health care provider knows about any medicines, herbs, or supplements that you are taking. joancoll13 wrote: What is involved in a kidney function panel? Guest guest
, sounds like you've been there. I'll definitely look into this further. I think we'll know more once we get the lab results from the urine test done yesterday. Thanks for your help. Joan
