Hi All!

At long last, Noelle is in her first brace! I can hardly believe it! Her supine x-ray went from 10 degrees to 15. but her standing one went from 15 down to 10! Our doc, my husband and I all think the supine x-ray wasn't accurate because Noelle was laying on a pillow and her head was to the side. But she was standing nice and straight in her x-ray and for the first time EVER in her life I can no longer see a visible curve with my naked eye.... How's that for a birthday gift! I am beside myself with joy!!!!! - Noelle's mommy, 2 1/2 years old and in 8th cast from Rochester NY, reflux, mild plagiocephaly, mild torticollos, hypotonia, ligament laxity, suspected Ehler's Danlos III

HI ,

My name is Tema, I'm relitively new here but don't really post much. It is great news to hear that your daughter is in a brace. I noticed your daughter has Hypotonia and Ligament laxity. My son also has that as well as suspected Ehlers Danlos IV (whaterver roman numeral that is) My son is casted. My question to you is, with your daughter's Hypotonia and Ligament laxity, how did she do in a cast. (She obviously done great) The reason I ask is because my son is in his first cast and is due soon for a cast change. I have this fear that when they remove his cast that with the hypotonia and ligament laxity the curve will go back up. (He was at 90 degrees! I'm just afraid that he won't have the muscle tone and maybe be too flexible to keep his spine straight. Any feedback would be great. I'm kind of nervous. Congratulations again on the wonderful news!!

Hi Tema!

Noelle's curve was quite flexible and she has been able to hold her own quite well! Casting may have taken her a bit longer than the norm, but we've gotten there! Each kid is very different and how your child responds may be different than mine, but I would remain optimistic and cast as long as you can. We had one cast where we lost a few degrees and a couple with no change at all, but we stayed the course! When do you go back for your first cast change?- Noelle's mommy, 2 1/2 years old and in 8th cast from Rochester NY, reflux, mild plagiocephaly, mild torticollos, hypotonia, ligament laxity, suspected Ehler's Danlos III
