Guest guest
I had low igf 1 so we did a stimulation test to see if I was able to produce a certain response. It turned out I need supplementation via nortropin shots daily. It has had a positive impact on my energy levels and strength. Sent from my iPad Not likely causing high aldo. Depending on where it is and what it is doing it could cause low GH, Lot TSH and low ACTH and low Gonadotrophins. How was low GH Dxed?CE Grim MD Dr. GrimWill send numbers as soon as I get them back. They call the tumor an adenoma. As far as my team thinking it has anything to do with being sick, they don't seem to think so, which raises the question ,why low growth hormone and low tsh? Is it possible for it to be the cause of hyperaldosterone ? Sent from my iPad Send us your renin and do numbers. What does your team call the pituitary tumor?May your pressure be low!CE Grim MS, MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension All, I recently joined you guys here. I'm uncertain if I am part of the group as I am in the testing phase and think maybe i could have secondary hyperaldosterone.I thought I'd share some of my medical hx and see what you think. Bp 160/112 hr 105 , cardiologist won't treat the blood pressure as nothing worked and says it is an endocrine problem. My endocrine doctor did not know what to do with me regarding bp and sent me to a kidney dr. He is starting me on spiro after he can see my baseline na k+ aldosterone. I've been hospitalized for low k+. I had a ct of my kidneys three years ago and there was nothing abnormal. I do have a 5mm posterior pituitary tumor and looks like another one starting next to it. It is right where the pituitary connects to the hypothalamus. I take growth hormone shots every day and my thyroid stimulating hormone was .51 two weeks ago( low). I have been sick for quite awhile so I am very happy someone is going to try and treat my Bp issues. I hope to feel better! Yes, I have been learning about dash and when I'm done with my initial tests I will be Dashing too! Regards , Sent from my iPad

Guest guest
Interesting problem with the GH being low as this often leads to low BP AND too much can increase BP. Any family Hx of HTN, low K or stroke. Read my evolution of PA ARTICLE in our files as it may provide some insight. When did low K start? What meds were u on when it started? How many times a night do u get up to pee. What have your renin and aldosterone numbers been so far? Must have been done as soon as BP proem became difficult.Do you eat licorice every day? Has anyone asked u this before?Let us know when new renin/aldo numbers come back send the results and what is normal in that lab. What BP meds did not work or what problems did they cause?May your pressure be low!CE Grim MS, MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension Detailed. I am a 40 yr old ob female. I have been sick for fifteen years. My initial symptoms were diffuse pain and fatigue. I was in the military and very physically fit and loved distance running. Symptoms slowly became worse to include episodes of high blood pressure and increased heart rate, weight gain, sx of fluid overload, migraine headaches, night sweats, peri orbital edema, pedal edema, sob with mild exertion, chest pain, palpitations and even more fatigue, insomnia. I was seeing a PA as my provider. She advised me I needed to work out harder and I would start feeling better. I searched for a doctor that would be willing to listen and guide my care. In the mean time I consulted with an endocrinologist in Seattle that specializes in cushings.I stayed in the hospital for a week and did a complete work up for cushings. Though some cortisol levels were off considerably it was not cushings. We did however find the posterior pituitary adenoma and now were aware my growth hormone was nil. I finally found a doctor and was referred to an endocrine doc who then referred me to another endocrine specialist. She also sent me to a cardiologist. We tried some Bp meds to no avail. I was hospitalized and taken off everything. Blood pressure getting worse he urged my endocrine specialists to do something about my Bp as he had ruled out any cardiac cause for it. I was hospitalized several times for high blood pressure and low K. I was still supplementing with K. I went through testing for the low growth hormone. It took a year and a half to get started. It has helped greatly with my energy level and strength. All this time my Bp continued to get worse and I could not get anybody to try anything to bring it down. At each visit which includes a five hour drive each way and a hotel stay I asked to investigate the cause of the high blood pressure. They referred me to a kidney and hypertension clinic. Two weeks ago I went for my initial visit. That doctor said he would start me on spiro as soon as he knew my baseline for k,na,and renin. I am waiting for results.Any questions ? Do any of these interfere with the tests? I finish the tests tomorrow. I will see if we can add creatine as it is not on my lab sheet. My last hospitalization they took me off all Bp meds. Some sort of reaction when I would stand up my blood pressure was going up fast and then I'd black out. I hope my endocrine dr. Can be trained. I asked to be put on spiro two years ago for the Bp since. Nothing else seemed to work. I'm hopeful I will feel better. Guest guest
My maternal grandmother had HTN. She eventually blew a hole in her left ventricle which was patched with gortex back in the early 1990's. After that she had CHF. The first time I was aware my k was low was in the hospital as I couldn't go home until it was in a safe range. That was 2004.At that time I was on a beta blocker norvasc and HCTZ. I don't remember all of the different combinations we tried.i will have to do some research.I have been off of all blood pressure drugs for a long time.I get up at night from 3-6 times per night to void.I do not eat licorice. The first time I was asked that was two weeks ago at the kidney hypertension clinic.I checked my online chart at OHSU and do not even have a record of renin or aldosterone being done with them .The blood pressure meds made little difference in Bp,the reaction I was having was as I would stand up and my Bp was going up and then I was blacking out. Guest guest
Thank you for the info. I got out at a time I was dealing with beginning symptoms of fatigue, feeling unable to keep up. Nothing specific. It was thought to be autoimmune disease at that time. I have only started back to work a couple months ago. I work part time but it is everything I can do to make it through my days. All of my off time is recovering from work. My husband makes enough that I wouldn't be able to collect disability but things these days are pretty tight. Got all the shots and have wondered if that was what started my illness but don't think I could ever prove it.Sent from my iPad Did you B/P get worse during military sevice? Guest guest
Thanks for that info, EW. I am growing my sunnies on coir only and after each batch, I cut up the mat and put it into the compost. So far, so good, and my sunnies are tasting amazing! I have no other microgreens at the moment. My wife repoted some house plants last Saturday. I decided to use the old soil to do some micro greens. Guess what, the soil got all moldy. So here's the hint: Use only fresh soil for sprouting. ew
