Guest guest
I don't drink V-8. I eat at least 1 baked potato a day, skin and all. I also eat avocados, dried beans, etc; I even occasionally eat a banana. :-/ When I suspected I had Conn's I made a spreadsheet of the high K foods I would eat and I eat from that list daily. I also take K gluconate supplements and use K iodide topically as needed. Donna --- Clarence Grim wrote: How do you get 8,000 mg of K (potassium)? That would be 10 cups of low Na V-8. Guest guest
" So are you getting 4,700 mg of K in what you are eating? " I have no idea; I've never calibrated my dietary intake. Some days I may eat 3 large bowls of beans (pre-soaked and rinsed or eaten with Beano ;->) and some days I may eat a banana and a half or whole avocado (depending if my husband would like part of it). Some days I eat 1 lg baked potato and some days I eat 2 med. Keeping up with how much I eat hasn't been as important to me as the fact that I eat as consistently from that list as possible. K supplements, on the other hand, those I consume at least 8 G daily these days or more if the symptoms I listed some time back are still problematic for me. The vodka sounds good (I bought a bottle of cake flavored vodka for my b-day this year), but it eats up too many B vitamins and I have enough trouble with those as it is. ;-> I may give the low Na V-8 a try - if I can find it here. Donna --- Clarence Grim wrote: So are you getting 4,700 mg of K in what you are eating? The only way to document this is to have your Dr. check Na and K in your urine. If you can stand low V-8 or spicy low Na V-8 you can get 800 to 1000 mg a cup. Add some vodka and a piece of celery and enjoy. After driving. Guest guest
I don't take meds for my BP and I have eating low Na for over a month (as I posted earlier today). 8,000 mg a day of K and Mg supplements is absolutely possible. I posted the details earlier today. Donna --- Clarence Grim wrote: If you are working on minimizing your meds and BP and Sx of PA doing the DASH will help a lot. It is not possible to get 8,000 mg a day of K with K supplements that I am aware of. Can you give exact details. Others will want to know this source. Guest guest
You know, if these posts were posted on a site such as <http://conns.dstartz.com/> it would be really easy to keep track of what someone has already posted on a subject. Just saying..... Guest guest
It might make it easier. One can do the same in email program just ckick by subject. Never easy to to try to go through 100 postings to see wat someone has posted. I have see where this group has had close to 100 posting in a day. Most days there are about 30. Would be very hard to come up with any thing that would make it easy. > > If you are working on minimizing your meds and BP and Sx of PA doing the DASH > will help a lot. > > It is not possible to get 8,000 mg a day of K with K supplements that I am > aware of. > > Can you give exact details. Guest guest
" SHALL WE upload the 37,000 posts we have? " No, because over 80% of those pages are nothing more than a repeat of the previous pages. Of course, you are welcome to glean the original part of the post and upload it alone. " We need to know the exact details on how you are getting 8,000 mg of potassium a day thru diet or even supplements. " " Go back a few emails about " this topic and you'll see the answer. " 1. This much can potentially kill a person on spiro. or DM or on other drugs. " ~as I stated in a past post on this subject~ I'm not on any meds. " However if you cook everything from scratch and read all labels it is possible to even get the sodium intake to as low as 250 mg of Na a day. " I know. And I don't have to eat only rice and fruit to do it. Donna --- Clarence Grim wrote: SHALL WE upload the 37,000 posts we have? We need to know the exact details on how you are getting 8,000 mg of potassium a day thru diet or even supplements. Because 1. This much can potentially kill a person on spiro. or DM or on other drugs. 2. Others may want to use less of it as getting the 4,700 goal for DASH. The only way to document (prove) your are on a low sodium diet is to take a urine specimen to your Dr. However if you cook everything from scratch and read all labels it is possible to even get the sodium intake to as low as 250 mg of Na a day. This is the classic rice-fruit diet. CE Grim MD
