Hi and Welcome:-))

I've put the recipe I developed and have used myself since 1994 on a

webpage called KMI: " How To Make Kombucha Manual " . You will find it here:

http://users.bestweb.net/~om/kmi/manual.html

It is quite detailed and always makes wonderful KT!

Happy Brewing EveryOne!!!

You are very welcome.

I use the recipe that put on the list up there.

I wanted to just change something about my former post to you. When I said

tightly covered I meant with a tightly weaved cloth and rubber band. Sorry about

that. Sometimes my fingers get ahead of my brain.

Anyway, enjoy your KT adventure and have fun doing it. :o)

Hi Sharon and welcome! You are in the right place. This is a great

group, and the IOWL podcasts really are a different way of approaching

things. It has made a big difference for me, and I think you will be

successful too. The good news is you found it when you have only 30

pounds to lose. You've lost 85 before, so you know you can do it. The

difference this time is that will teach you how to keep it off.

I can't believe it! I said " only 30 pounds " to you, when I have been

grumbling that I have about 25 more pounds to lose and it is going

slowly. There's one of my limiting beliefs coming out. It really is

all a matter of perspective. Glad you are here!

Welcome to the list Keri!

As for Nicunurses, send an email to the owner-it’s possible you

got denied because you may not have left a comment, or because Yahoogroups held

the request.

Hi everyone,

My name is Keri Mocanu. I've been a nurse for 13 years, 12 as a NICU

nurse. I'm at Mass General in Massachusetts.

My husband and I have 3 kids...6, 4, 22mos. I just started LNC school.

I tried to join NICU Nurses, but the moderator denied me and I have no

idea why. Anyway, I enjoy the LNC listserv so much, I figured I'd

join one in an area I already know about and maybe be able to

contribute something to the group.

Yes, Keri- I'm the moderator and I don't remember denying you but lateley we've had a lot of people wanting to join to advertise. While we tolerate some advertisements if it is nursing related, we don't care for the other ads.

Anyway to make a long story short, try to sign up again and write something in the comments part that tells me who you are.

Welcome to the group. We are all on the journey of improving our

relationship with food, and one of the steps is to not judge yourself

negatively about your current situation. Ever.

Whether you are just starting out or have been on the program for a while

and hit a plateau, there is not reason to feel bad about anything - even if

you just finished in three week food binge where all you ate was junk food

and drank only soda. These are events, and they do not define you. You (ALL

OF YOU) are a good person, and you're desire to get better shows that. Your

past may have brought you here, but you decide where your future takes you.

Remember we are looking for small improvements every day. No big sweeping

changes. They don't last. Little changes, small victories are the true path

to success. So everytime you eat one bite less, order the water instead of

soda, or even get the small ice cream instead of the large; these little

victories will guide you to the healthy and happy you that you are looking

for.

Welcome, Mapleleafeh! What a fascinating dream, and I love how you

Thanks , I am enjoying the process of looking at the dream and how to

integrate it into my conscious routine.

Last night was an interesting dinner out with my husband, eating to savor the

food, smaller bites, conversation with my husband and the waiter was more

personal, intense and present. There were some real moments of connection and

even an exchange of phone numbers. The hunger diary is showing that I am one of

those eaters that is constantly topping off the tank, never actually reaching a

state of real hunger. I think I'll push this a little further until I can feel

more of the hunger before I eat.

Howdy & welcome Terry - I'm a successful 'loser' as well, but it finds me again

(and as says, 'with it's friends') ...

the 'motivator of last resort' (i.e. the doctor & threat of impending diabetes)

has me back again and looking at more that diets, which is how I found

good to have you with us!

Hi, I found this group via the podcast which I have just started

listening to.

The first podcast really got to me since it sounded just like me. I

started dieting at the age of 14 because I weighed more than my best

friend. Of course, I lost weight and a 1000-calorie diet then

subsequently gained weight and thus started a lifetime of yo-yo

dieting. I *think* I have been successful losing weight 5 times.

Unfortunately, I have always managed to gain it back with surplus.

I have been on Nutrisytem, e-diets, Seattle Sutton, and Weight

Watchers successfully. I have also been on Craig and

Nutrisystem unsuccessfully. I realize that it really isn't the diet

but how much I am motivated and how active I get that helps me

succeed.

Every time I have gained the weight back, it has been due to health

problems that stopped me from exercising and most probably sent me to

my comfort foods.

But I am also very stubborn (which on a positive spin

is " determined " ) and I refuse to go down without a hell of a fight!

So here I am at the start of a new year, listening to the podcasts

and hoping to change from the inside out.

I'm happy to be part of this group and look forward to connecting,

going forward, and succeeding. :->

Hi Kiki...welcome!? Great bunch of folks here.? I'm sure you will find the

connections you are seeking.? :)

I'm a new member and I wanted to say hi to everybody. I'm 26 years

old, I am 5'4 " , I weigh 265 lbs, down 9 lbs from my highest recorded

weight of 274. Due to a recent abundance of health annoyances

bordering on problems, along with some old health problems, I have

become desperate to get my weight under control and reverse the

effects on my life it has had.

I have been overweight since high school. In 2003, I got down to 175

lbs and then in the last five years I gained about 100 pounds. Moving

is uncomfortable, sleeping is uncomfortable, I'm just uncomfortable

and sick of it.

Believe it or not, despite the above introduction to myself, I try to

be a positive person who always looks for the bright side in bad

situations.

I'm very into self help books and alternative methods of healing,

which led me to find " Inside Out Weight Loss " which has been a huge

blessing to me. I listen to several times a week when I am

playing puzzle games on the PC, as I frequently do. I listen to her

episodes over and over again, I love the sound of her voice and the

positive message uplifts me in ways that I have learned to look

forward to when I am stressed.

I hope in joining this group to find a way to support others and be

supported as we all work towards the same goal-- to feel good about

ourselves inside and out.

Hey Kiki!

It doesn't matter about age when it comes to weight loss or even numbers! The

main idea is for us to actually lose weight and be healthier!

But for you, you don't need motivation as much. You have it. It's just the doing

that needs to get going.

;)

So my advice, is post here when you need help or have some troubles and always

record what's being eaten and have connections with people through online or out

in your town. But by actually walking 10 minutes a day, you're helping your

heart already. If you're helping your heart, you have more energy and more

energy equals more weight loss. Simple math that gets me moving!

So welcome and have fun!

Stay positive and be present!

Yeah the kids always love that. I am looking forward to going and

getting a journal today. I was listening to another podcast that

suggest you set a personal mission for yourself. I have also found

that listening to the podcast twice is not a bad idea because I

always hear something different the second time around.

I to joined of here to hope to give of some insights to spectrum issues from my own perspective. and maybe to give of some insights to the whys of a behavior that might help of others to understand the core reason for a behavior. I to feel strong one should not extinguish any things unless they understsnd the core of what is of driving of the behavior. Because to extinguish it might be of shutting of the individuals only way to communicate to teh world around them. EXCEPT in extreme cases of self injurious behavior and or those things that cause others harm thos thing sneed to be of extinguished and then work on alternatives to the needs. sondra

Great job with the better numbers! The reason for the slow weight loss

is because your body is in metabolic crisis - ergo the slow weight

loss. The good news is that soon you will start losing more because

you are more healthy. It's tough to get out of metabolic crisis when

you get there, but when you do your body will strongly respond to what

you are doing. I am also in metabolic crisis so I know how frustrated

you feel. My medical friends always remind me that I weigh that much

less than when I started and I've gotten to where I celebrate my 1 lb

weightloss per week. My hubby, on the other hand, is not in metabolic

crisis so he was able to lose 30 lbs in 6 weeks which is still

frustrating the heck out of me, but I am always reminded that due to

my slow and controlled weightloss I increase my chances of keeping it

off.
