Guest guest
Hi sherry Fiirst of all, most of us here are geno type 1..and the treatment is usually 48 weeks Not 24..although,12 and 24 weeks will determine if you continue treatment if you clear by this time factor...We all were scared but are so glad we did treatment to add years to our lives..thats what tx does..and the tx gives your liver rest from the virus attacking it Do you work full time? how old are you and do you have kids?...hugs, patty Question Hi Everyone, I have been silently watching all the posts for over a month now on the board - what a great board. Lots of useful information and I have learned things I didn't know before. I have read alot about how you feel during treatments. I have a question - alot of things I read about about the effects of treatment, both during and after I already have those problems. Lack of energy, lack of interest, cannot concentrate, cannot work due to fatigue. Nausea, stomach problems, bad vision problems, depression, moodiness, not caring to leave the house to do anything! Is it normal to have all these problems if your not going through treatment and if I do start treatment, all these things going to get worse??? I am scared to start treatment after reading about all the side effects. And if I am going through this now, what is going to be like to go through treatment. And I am told that with the type of HEP C (genotype 1A) that it is the most resitant to treatment. And they tell me normally with this type of HEP C it can take up to 24 months of treatment to clear the virus if it works at all. Please help here. I found out 2.5 yrs ago I had this and it seems like my life is sprialing down and have had alot of new health issues come up. Vison has gotten terrible - my teeth started falling out. Wound up getting the ones I had left pulled. I have alot of days where i just want to get up and run away. Just looking for input as everyone on here seems to have quite a bit of first hand knowledge. Sorry for such a long post Sherry
Guest guest
Hi Patty, I cannot work full time anymore. I don't have the strength or mental ability to do so. I used to be a mortgage loan processor. Very detailed work and long hours. I 50 yrs old. Found out when I was 47 I had it and had been telling my doctors for over a year prior to finding out something was wrong. All my children are grown and I have 9 grandchildren. So far, all my liver panels have always been normal. My liver cat scan did not show anything abnormal, but my viral load keeps getting higher. If I do treatment, am I going to feel like my old self again. I am just very confused as to what to do. Thanks for responding to me > > Hi sherry > > Fiirst of all, most of us here are geno type 1..and the treatment is usually > 48 weeks Not 24..although,12 and 24 weeks will determine if you continue > treatment if you clear by this time factor...We all were scared but are so > glad we did treatment to add years to our lives..thats what tx does..and the > tx gives your liver rest from the virus attacking it > Do you work full time? how old are you and do you have kids?...hugs, patty > Question > > > Hi Everyone, I have been silently watching all the posts for over a > month now on the board - what a great board. Guest guest
Hi, Sherry, I'm VickieG, age 58 in treatment with genotype 1b since the last week of June 2007. I too was afraid to start treatment with the long list of sides attached to meds. You must understand that the list of sides is a list. You may not get any or many of them. But, the sure thing is that if you have hep-c, you need treatment to keep your liver from being damaged beyond repair. I cleared at 12 weeks and will continue treatment until the last week of May this year. I didn't have symptoms until I started tx and they were mild until after xmas. Then it was more bad days than good. Everyone is different in the way they do on tx. I believe that all your symptoms are also normal symptoms of Hep-c. Have you seen a dr. yet for blood tests? I assume you have as you know your genotype. It sounds like you need to go on an antidepressant as soon as possible. It will help you get back into caring about things around you and that will give you the strength you need to battle this dragon. Love and hugs, VickieG QuestionHi Everyone, I have been silently watching all the posts for over amonth now on the board - what a great board. Guest guest
Have any of your kids gone through a period where they think there are to many coincidences? For instance Joei is having (many times a day) situations where something will come on TV and she will say " whoa, I was just thinking of that " or being online and all of a sudden an ad will pop up that she says she was just thinking about the subject matter. The look she gets on her face when she tells me it has happened is that look of anxiety that I know to well. Hmm, I don't know if I am explaining this right but it is as if she thinks it has some great meaning that this is happening. ~~Kathy Courage is not living without fear.
