Hi, This is Rodney. I am not very active with this group but get a

chance to connect and look around every now and then.

We have a HFA,Aspergers young lady that will be 12 this month. We

have not had lots of puberty issues yet.

However, we met a 14 year old boy several months ago and found him

to be very plesant. Turns out he wasn't always that way. He was

going through some very difficult times during his teen years. It

got so bad that the family sent the boy teen to a camp. This camp is

a facility where they go through a whole set of medication testing to

find the winning combination for the child.

I am including the link to the website that she went to and found the

facility. Puberty brings on a whole host of chemical changes in the

brain. Medications that may have worked wonderful until that point

become ineffective. I would try this before I would try a residential

setting.

Maybe it might help you.

Hi everyone,

Sorry if my advice is old hat, but we have been through the same

difficulties as some of the new members here who are experiencing onset

aggression with puberty. My daughter is 15 now and medications did not help.

We found the best thing to help when another parent told me to check out

" calming neurotransmitters " on my search engine. We decided to try a calming

amino acid called glycine. It took about 2 weeks going very slowly with the

dosage, but one 500 mg capsule of glycine slowly reduced her aggression,

rages and emotional outbursts. About 6 months after that I had tried DMG to

see if it would help with her expressive language and focus and attention.

While it did seem to help, her aggression started to come back a bit.

Another parent had suggested TMG which naturally raises serotonin levels,

thus helping with the aggression. Within 2 days of switching to TMG, my

daughter seemed to perk up and be much happier. She had her best half of the

school year this year with only minor infractions from her monthly cycle and

seasonal allergies. This from a child that has had to come home 2 years in a

row for homebound instruction due to severe aggression and rages at school.

I've actually been able to reduce her TMG to only 2 caplets a week without

any signs of a regression.
