Guest guest
It is not his voice, he feels like it is external so that is why I was trying to explain to him how the brain can play a trick on you-to reassure him it is not " real " . This was the same with my daughter, I'm just hoping b/c her episode with that faded out, my son's will too. I do think it makes it harder to do ERP. My daughter could not do ERP when the voice would threaten her for breaking the rules. In that case, messing up or challenging a rule (she seemed to believe in her rules with absolute conviction, so the " messing-up " would happen only by accident or a collision of opposing rules-not by therapeutic choice) did not demonstrate that the fear of somethuing bad happening was unfounded- b/c something bad would happen-a mean scary voice would be triggered. That made her all the more convinced that her fears (which did seem like OCD obsessions) were correct. I remember trying to explain that to her therapist at the time and it sounding like I was not in line with helping her do the ERP exercises. I'm just glad she does not have that anymore, it was brief, and Ihope it is transient or just extra " loud " OCD with my son. nancy grace > > > > My son told me (reluctantly and with several hints or questions for > > several days before revealing anything) that he hears a scary mean > > voice being " mean " to him that has happened 2-3 times recently.
