Guest guest
Depakote sounds of familar to me so maybe it was of one used but my office is of torn apart and not able to find the list of meds was on. so couldnot tell you of it even if did use of it have little memory of its outcomes except it must not have been good or would not have been taken off LOL. Guest guest
My Daughter was on Depakote at one time it was a wonderful med. for her but after using it a year it caused her liver enzymes to rise to a level that her doctor thought that she should be taken off. Every since then we have tried lots of others, they put her on Trileptal to take the place of the Depakote, Trileptal is very good, but the Depakote was great, we had great results from the depakote. Good ol'Depakote Sprinkles, open them up and take the innards. Love them dye allergies. I know about it...I know people who've taken it (kids and adults)...I never took it. I want to keep it that way. Kassiane who prefers kidney meds to liver meds, processing-wise. it works better that way.

The valproates all use liver enzymes, as do tegretol, trileptal, lamictal, most antidepressants, asprin...a lot of medications. The kidneys do the majority of the work on my Topamax and neurontin, which tends to work better for me. And with the " innards " thing--Im REALLLLLY dye allergic. So if I have to do the Depakote thing, it's going to have to be the Depakote Sprinkles. Opened up, and poured into ice cream or something. I cant do the syrup or take the big pink pills or whatever, all the dye. Hence taking the " innards " of a pill *grin*. Kassiane

I discovered the phenol/salycilate problem in MAY because I had 30 seizures in the space of about 8 hours, after totally gorging on berries and apples and all these " good for you " things. And I KNEW a lot of food things, Ive lived in this body for 22 years. Geez, today with the link Penny posted I saw an explanation for why b6 makes me so wonky, it screws up my phenol metabolism. You're learning. It's a learning process. Trial and error happen. It's OKAY. Guest guest
I agree Don, Yeah it is frustrating and when you are talking about meds like we have to take for treatment having a pharmacy that takes responsibility for the type of service they give is a plus. You know a lot of people now days don't understand that when you work, you are suppose to take responsibility and care for the customer. They (the customer) are ultimately the reason you get a paycheck. Funny how things have changed. Finding the right fit on getting your meds correctly and on time is really important. And it is not a bad thing to tell the new pharmacy about your previous problems with say the pharmacy that messed up. That way they will not repeat the same mistakes. My Pharm has more than once had to order or chase down my meds.Sometimes it pisses me off, other times I just have to work around it. Try to remain calm. S**t will happen. It does you personally no good to blow. Stress is bad for you too. Im sure your pharm understands [this probably happens alot]. Appologys heal also, if you think its warrented. I seem to appologize everyday for something or other, even when I feel Im in the right. Got to keep the wheels turning is most important, and hasnt seemed to hurt anything but my pride. Guest guest
I guess I'm very fortunate, my meds are delivered monthly from a specialty pharmacy. Comes neatly packed and ready for the frig. Since others aren't doing this, could it be dangerous? Guest guest
I’m fortunate, too. Because of insurance, we hafta order meds from Cedar Rapids, Iowa three months at a time, though we do get one month’s co-pay free. (I’m in Des Moines.) When CR was flooded, they had some problems. I try to order refills about a week ahead of time. Sometimes they’re short, but they always make it up. Once they sent a shipment over-night to me. Guest guest
HI, I'm new to this group. I've been looking for others who have the same issues I have. My daughter is almost 9 and has been on meds for anxiety and OCD for 1 1/2 years. We took her off Prozac in Oct, then she started having major temper tantrums- usually about how her hair looked, or her clothes were uncomfortable. It would take us an hour to get out of the house. Shoes are bad too, never comfortable, always too tight or not tight enought- I hate winter@! Need to move to Hawaii. Anyway, Dr. said we could try prozac again, or Luvox. Luvox might be better because she had trouble sleeping and then we had to give her something to help her sleep. Put her on Luvox (25mg) at the end of Dec. Now she acts very silly clumsy and wayyyyyy tooooo talkative. She interrupts all the time. I wonder if it's making her ADD worse. DOes anyone have a child who take meds for ADD and OCD??? I'm scared to put her on more medications!!!! I just want some sanity and calmness for one day-- HA! NB
