  • 34 years later...

two of my children's have excessive hand and skin peeling of the palms of

the hands and soles of the feet. My Missy is often seen flapping her hands

saying they are hot and places them often on the windows of the cars, into

ice water and holds ice. I to be of one who is like this too my feet are

excessive hot or excessive cold but rare to be just right. the sister and

mother of me to had the disorder that was mentions for hot spots on the

feet.

So this is a common things formy family. my two youngest children's also

have the worst of the worst foot odor.

my grandmother used to have this too. i found this info on the

internet. you might ask her doctor about it. good luck.

Hot feet or burning feet is a sign of axonal neuropathy (loss of

wiring of the nerves). Pain due to the nerve damage responds to

Neurontin (gabapentin) an anticonvulsant. This is a prescription

medication that needs to be prescribed, preferably by a neurologist.

, I have a pair of leather sandals that contributes to skin

irritation on my feet. It drives me nuts because I love them, but

every time I wear them any length of time I can count on my feet

being painfully flaky and peeling by the end of the night. Going

bare foot does not do this to me. I dunno if it's friction, allergy

to the leather, or what. I did also once have a leather watch band

which broke me out and I do have psoriasis.

I have also read peeling extremitites (feet and hands) is a sign of

mercury poisoning.

Debi,

She's fine with mercury, low in fact. Were going to try another

antifungal cream see if it makes any difference. I think if there is

no change she'll need to see a specialist because it's so frequent.

Thanks for all your ideas!

My daughter is 14, but mostly i have trouble keeping her neck area clean.

She has a long hairline, and it hard to scrub around her neck, front and

back. I use loofahs, alchohol rubs, it's better somewhat...any ideas????

My daughter is nine. Last year her hands and feet began to get

clammier and her feet began getting soooo sensitive. My child used to wear all

types

of shoes and was now down to sneakers and socksbecause every shoe caused

blisters. I bought every kind of bandaid I could. With flip flops this summer

the blisters are gone but she has scarring. If I start to break in a new pair

of sandals (the softest I could find were from Lands End) I still can only have

her in them for short periods or the redness will start.

I acutally asked her developmental pediatrician if she had ever heard of kids

on the spectrum having issues with clammy hands/feet or sudden feet

sensitivities. She said not on the spectrum that she knew, but that there was a

sweaty

hand/feet condition which was embarressing to businesspeople shaking hands a

lot and there was a medication for it. My is on enough meds so I don't

want that.

I am just so surprised a few days later to see these posts. There must be

somthing to it.
