Finding a doc

Hi Jacquie,

It's a challenge finding the right cognitive behavior therapist for

OCD. How serious is the OCD? It doesn't sound too bad. If you

daughter is asking for reassurance all the time, I'm afraid if you

keep giving it then the asking never stops. There's a chance you can

redirect her worries yourself. You have to keep an eye on whether

it's getting more severe with time. If it is getting worse, you

better find someone fairly soon. I don't necessarily take as final

the " not taking new patients " and " not taking a waiting list " . I

think you should call back periodically to check whether there are

openings.

Are there any universities in your area? Ours has a clinic where they

see clients. I guess the students need practice, under the guidance

of a psychologist. Not ideal, but maybe better than nothing?

If it gets worse, your daughter may need some type of medication to

help tone down the anxiety. In that case you will need a psychiatrist

to get subscriptions. Our pediatrician did not want to get involved.

Good luck,

We did find a place to go but our appointment is January 26th. In the meantime

we are doing all the self help stuff we can. Thank you for their help.
