Muscle spasms and headaches are likely from low potassium rather than low iron.

I'm pretty certain that some folks here have to continue taking potassium

supplements (prescription, not the OTC vitamin-aisle kind) while on spiro - I

only took spiro for a short time but my K dropped down to 2.5 within a couple

days of starting it and stopping the K supplements, so back on the K tabs I

went.

FWIW, since my adrenalectomy 5 weeks ago I have not had a single headache or

muscle spasm. My K has been steady at 4.5 - higher than it ever was while on the

supplements. Pre-adrenalectomy, my most intolerable symptoms were muscle spasms

and headaches!

intolerance, lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance (probable celiac).

horrible and feel lke I can't function. I was wondering what role iron plays in

bp b/c I was tol I'm slightly anemic. Feel tired alot and have muscle spasms and

headaches.... does spiro help with these symptoms?

Are you saying that blood test if done right may not still show you are low on

K? If so them this would explain why many have Sx of low K but blood show K is

normal.

High and low K (potassium) can have some of the same SX.

As I recall, low K is reported in ~30% of the people with PA. This is why many

cases are missed because it used to be looked for as part of the DX. My math

tells me that ~70% of the people with PA will have normal or high K. As one

whose K runs on the high end of the scale (4.8 - 5.0) we do bi-weekly blood test

when I am changing meds or dosage.

- 65 yo super ob. male - 12mm X 13mm rt. a.adnoma with previous rt. flank

pain. Treating with Meds. And DASH. . Current BP(last week ave): 131/76 HR 60

Other Issues/Opportunities: OSA w Bi-Pap settings 13/19, DM2, and PTSD.

Meds: Duloxetine hcl 80 MG, Metoprolol Tartrate 200 MG, 81mg asprin, Metformin

2000MG and Spironolactone 50 MG.
