Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the list! My name is Tracey and we live in a small town in Ontario, Canada. We have two daughters, Coral age 13 (nt) and our youngest Skylar, age 11. Skylar was diagnosed autistic at the age of 3. She was an extremely fussy eater and for about the age of 2-4 years, ate only cinnamon danish cookies and dry rice krispies. I found this very frustrating and worried constantly that she wasn't getting enough nutrition. The Dr. suggested I start giving her Ensure. I called it her special milk and she got half a can a day. She loved it and eventually she started eating more and more. Now she is a non stop eating machine and will each just about everything, especially if she can cover it in ketchup. LOL. Sky was also completely non verbal until the age of 5. We used the PECS and learned sign language. Using the sign language, at least for Skylar, seemed to open the flood gates to speech. She talks great now. Her articulation isn't the best but she can be understood by everyone. I know how overwhelming it can be when your child is first diagnosed. I read everything I could and still do. There is so much information out there. This is a fantastic group! Everyone on here is a great source of information, support and ideas. I am sure you will be glad you joined. Its good to have you with us. Guest guest
Hi! I have a 3 1/2 year old beautiful girl (is) adopted from Korea. She has PDD-NOS also. She was a very fussy eater and we removed all dairy from her diet and she improved dramatically. She is better focused, talking more, great eye contact, better eater, better sleeper, no nightmares, less hyper and less self directed, less repetitive play and less sensory issues. I highly recommend that you try it. If you do, take some notes about her behaviors/problems as far as how often, etc. before you remove the dairy and after. That way you have a measuring tool. I hope this helps. P.S. I read the book Unraveling the Mysteries of Autism and PDD before removing dairy. You may want to read it.
