Well, I just submitted my first article to The Associated Content on a subject

that I am passionate about. I won't know for up to two weeks whether it's

accepted or not, but for me what is important is that I wrote an article and

submitted it to a site that pays for articles and accepts freelance work on all

subjects.

I haven't written anything substantial for a major publication in seven years. I

went through a period in the 1990s when I wrote frequently and published several

commentaries on a variety of subjects for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Lately all

I've been able to manage is an occasional Letter to the Editor of my local

weekly.

I've been wanting to write the way I used to, and I've been told by many people

for years that I should write about my experiences and all the resources that

I've gathered, since I do help a lot of people with information and resources

all the time ... I have been unable to do this, out of fear and many excuses.

So even if it's not accepted .... what matters most to me is that I DID IT.

If they do accept my submission, then it's incentive for me to write about all

the subjects related to children with neurological and learning disabilities,

special ed, dealing with government agencies, becoming a better advocate, etc.

I've been through hell this past year in learning the ropes, and I want to share

what I've learned with other parents who also are learning how to advocate for

their kids.

I'm mentioning this here because I'm hoping my work today will add to my overall

goals of less focus on food and weight, and more focus on my real passions.
