Guest guest
How has everyone's summer been. the list has been of too quiet lately and wondered why it is of so quiet here all summer? About instruments wanted to learn flute and violin as child never had opportunity to do it and now feel not coordinated or skilled enough to learn as cant read notes, or memorize the finger placement to notes and such. It to me is too much EF for me to learn of it. If maybe one to breaked it down like small components might be to learned it then. Guest guest
Debbie, I am going through a similar situation with my 7 yr old NT daughter. She wanted to quit violin lessons 3 weeks in because it's hard and she has to practice. I told her before hand I have a 1 yr rule -- if she starts something she has to do it for at least a year. I was a big ole quitter as a child and I wanna teach Jess to stick with things. that said, I know kids with ASD can be a bit more challenging. <g> HTH, Debi
Guest guest
Hi Sondra, You're right the list has been very quiet this summer. I hope you and your family are well. It's interesting about musical instruments. My daughter has a savant skill at the piano and started playing complete pieces at the age of two, totally out of the blue. Now at four she is truly amazing, her fingers just fly over the keys with incredible dexterity. She can play almost anything she hears. However, she cannot do the simplest things like feed herself, hold a crayon or toothbrush, put on or take off clothes. How can someone be so nimble with her hands to play the piano, but not be able to use her hands for so many other things? > How has everyone's summer been. the list has been of too quiet lately > and > wondered why it is of so quiet here all summer? > > About instruments wanted to learn flute and violin as child never had > opportunity to do it and now feel not coordinated or skilled enough to > learn > as cant read notes, or memorize the finger placement to notes and > such. Guest guest
*sigh* Here we go again. Carole is supposed to play cello in the 5th grade strings orchestra starting in September. Rental is $50 per month for this big thing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just an update on this subject. I found a nice used 3/4 size cello in the paper for just $50! Carole has her cello and is absolutely delighted with it.
