Dear and Barbara

I prefer " cinasa " instead of " quinasa " for the name of enzymes transfering a

phosphate group from ATP but I understand that this is a matter for discussion,

what do you think about it?

When I studied medicine " quinasa " was the spelling used and I personally

feel that the use of " quin- " avoids confusion with references to " cine- "

(e.g. cinematorradiografía), but the preferred usage is definitely

" cinasa " , based on the rule that derivatives of Greek words beginning with

kappa should be written in Spanish with a " c " (in which case all the cine-

are wrongly spelled).

Thanks for bringing the point up,

Barbara

Receptors, Growth Factor - Cell surface receptors that bind growth or

trophic factors with high affinity, triggering intracellular responses which

influence the growth, differentiation, or survival of cells.

Receptor Protein-Tyrosine Kinases - A class of cellular receptors that have

an intrinsic PROTEIN-TYROSINE KINASE activity. EC 2.7.11.-

Epidermal Growth Factor - A 6 kD polypeptide growth factor initially

discovered in mouse submaxillary glands. Human epidermal growth factor was

originally isolated from urine based on its ability to inhibit gastric

secretion and called urogastrone. EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR exerts a wide

variety of biological effects including the promotion of proliferation and

differentiation of mesenchymal and epithelial cells.

Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Protein-Tyrosine Kinase is not a MeSH term,

but it is associated with the MeSH term: Receptor, Epidermal Growth Factor -

A cell surface receptor involved in regulation of cell growth and

differentiation. It is specific for EPIDERMAL GROWTH FACTOR and EGF related

peptides including TRANSFORMING GROWTH FACTOR ALPHA, amphiregulin, and

heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor. The binding of ligand to the

receptor causes activation of its intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity and

rapid internalization of the receptor-ligand complex into the cell. EC

2.7.11.-.

Luego será algo así como inhibidor de la tirosinquinasa del receptor del

factor de crecimiento epidérmico o, simplemente, inhibidor del receptor del

factor de crecimiento epidérmico.

  • 5 years later...

There are also a couple of books called " My Friend With Autism " which

describes Autism in a very child friendly manner focusing on the child with

Autism,

and " Captain Tommy " which tells the story from the NT child's viewpoint and

teaches how to play with and enjoy a friend who has Autism. Neither book is

specifically for a sibling, but both could be good resources.
