Guest guest
Hi all, I'm new to the rehab stuff, so wanted to get some advise on a patient that has a very old CCL tear that was repaired (4+ yrs) with a lateral extracapsular suture. The dog is a 70 pound Dobe who's weight is excellent for her. She is 10 years old. The repair was done by an experienced surgeon who saw a normal meniscus. The securos system with 80# nylon was sued. The dog (belongs to my associate) failed to improve post op and the surgeon thought that perhaps the securos line was over tightened and therefore removed it. Now 2 years later the dog is still favoring the leg (grade 2-3 lameness). She has a decreased range of motion in bothe extension (165 degrees) and flexion (52 degrees). Radiographs show severe degenerative joint disease with the lateral fabella being enlarged and sclerotic, the lateral and medial capsule have calcification and there is alot of osteophytes and sclerotic changes. I do not get any tibial thrust or clicking, thought the joint is so stiff, I am not sure I would hear it. I am looking for help and suggestions to help improve this if at all even possible. The dog is on meloxicam and tramadol, glucosamine and I started her on vit E today. Thankfully she is an otherwise healthy dog. I appreciate your inputs-- , DVM pdljmper@...
