Exactly. Preventing serotonin reuptake is the same as keeping the

levels stable and keeping more serotonin in the circulation.

You don't know till you try. Believe or not, a lot of drs don't get that bent - you wouldn't believe all the meds they give kids. Perhaps take in the information sheet and leave it for the dr to peruse before a visit.

I just can't even believe any of our drs would prescribe Prozac for Sydnie. She does really well at 9 yrs old but would love to see improvement in some areas writing, math and just attitude lol. Something to keep her in line at school and not on her own agenda lolAngieiPhone

Angie,

I don't think their are many drs who feel comfortable perscripcing prozac. When we went to get Reece's perscription filled for the first time the pharmacist had a problem with it and wouldn't fill it until he talked to our dr. Our dr is pretty up to date when it comes to the brain. When he read about the protocol he said that he really thought they were on to something. I had second thoughts about giving Reece prozac until my dr explained more about Prozac to me. It's actually much safer than people think and I am so glad that I listened to him. It has done wonders for Reece!

Okay, I would be super annoyed if the pharmacist wouldn't fill something my doctor prescribed! I understand they are to make sure things are safe, but that's my doctors and my decision - not his.RubyAngie, I don't think their are many drs who feel comfortable perscripcing prozac. is on 10 mg Prozac and has been since Nov 2008. He is also on 360 mg

Prozac and we also have him on Body Bio PC although I had scaled down on that.

I plan to build that back up again and see if we see some significant

improvements. We are still struggling with many areas involving general

cognition. See the following for an idea:

concept of time: he thinks that every Sunday in Sunday School is his birthday

and gets upset when others have theirs, he also doesn't understand the concept

of going to school tomorrow, etc

other peoples' property: today, he got into another person's car, no respect at

all

inappropriate behavior: lack of personal space, no stranger danger

safety issues: doesn't understand the concept of road safety, getting out of

the way of swings, etc.

lots of language, lack of cognition: as everyone has mentioned, Prozac does

increase language, cognition is much longer in coming

As you can see, we still have lots of issues that Prozac isn't addressing. I am

interesting in Longvida curcumin and wonder if it could help with some of these

issues....we'll see. I do think that the Body Bio PC can help with some of

these " gray matters " - play on words for the brain. If I see significant

improvement with the PC, I'll let you know. We had to stop the GB and the PC

early in the summer due to surgery and now are getting back into the swing of

things.

Also, we are not on Focalin although I'm not sure that is a huge problem. The

brain is very complex and we cannot expect one drug such as Prozac to address

all the problems of DS.

Well the day our doctor prescribed it for Olivia was when I was sitting in her office in a puddle of tears! We had discussed the protocol months before and she ignored me, then when I had a breakdown in her office she relented and wrote the prescription! Kinda like crying for the police officer when he is about to write you a ticket! BUT in this case the tears were real. After 4 months on this our doctor is convinced and told me that this drug is NOTHING compared to what they give people all the time.

ASK and plead your case to your doctor.

My point exactly. We would probably all be astonished at the meds kids get, and of course, most of them are not even tested on kids, so they just give an educated smaller dosage.

Delighted to hear how well Olivia is doing! Of course, she always was terrific!
