Guest guest
Prepare for rambling! I went back over our calendar to include the info in my letter to the immuno asking for an appointment now instead of waiting until January. Turns out all my blathering about how now gets sinus infectionS (plural) isn't quite correct, this is STILL the FIRST one! Hope I don't bore you to death with my details: 8/15 high fever, cbc and blood culture, 2 days of Rocephin shots 8/16 now can see that it's sinus infection + ear infection oral abx - Cefzil for 10 days 8/26 last day of Cefzil 8/27 new, choking-sounding cough 8/28 respiratory problems - panting, chest retractions, wheezing, fever cbc and blood culture, Rocephin, chest x-ray - bacterial pneumonia + sinus infection 8/30 after Rocephin start Amoxicillin+Augmentin combo for 10 days 9/1 start of continuous temp of 99.5 (to present) 9/7 last day of abx 9/17 sinus infection start Omnicef, double course 9/26 recheck, still there, another double course of Omnicef You sinus veterans may not think a thing of this, I don't know. But it worries me that this has been simmering since August 15th and she's even had two sets of Rocephin shots in there, with the second set being the " meningitis " (high) dose due to bad looking wbc and differential (extreme left shift). Her behavior is back to horrid and she seems tired (with periodic spurts of normal energy). I just wonder why she can't kick this even with all the abx -- does that mean it's a nasty, resistant strain of something? Even ped thinks the abx are just holding it at bay and aren't eliminating it. Shouldn't they culture it and do a S & R? Or am I a paranoid rookie at this? Thanks. (mom to , age 2-1/2, polysaccharide antibody def, IgA def) P.S. Getting REALLY sick of the yellow jackets around here. From end of August to beginning of October it's so bad I hate to even walk outside! Open your window while stopped at a light and one will get in your car! ARRRGH! I don't wear perfume or use hairsprays or anything at all in Summer/Fall but they still flock to and I. Maybe because we're so sweet?! )

Guest guest
, Not to sound discouraging, but once Kody gets a sinus infection, it can take MONTHS and MONTHS to clear it up. On average, at least 6 months. He has had the best luck with Augmentin 200 and Amoxicillian 400 at the same time. Usually his sinus' get totally occluded with each sinus infection, and that takes forever to clear up. I was told this is because it isn't classified as sinus infections anymore with him but as sinus disease. Not sure exactly what that means. Usually he gets a sinus exray to see exactly the extent of the sinus infection. Then he is put on the Aug/Amox combo for 6-8 weeks at a time. I hope that you can get to the bottom of 's infections soon. Poor little thing. Diane, Mom to Kody, IgG subclass def. 2 & 3, seizure disorder, asthma, GERD, acute sinus disease. Osteomylitis 2/2000, 4 sets ear tubes, port placement 1/2001, tonsils and adenoids 5/2001, IVIG since 6/2000.
Guest guest
Opps, just realized I didn't say 's infections, I said your ('s) infections in my previous post! Sorry! That's what I get for trying to do two things at one time! Diane, Mom to Kody, IgG subclass def. 2 & 3, seizure disorder, asthma, GERD, acute sinus disease. Guest guest
I would ask for a culture ASAP. The dr admits he doesn't know what's going on & without a culture, no one knows what to do with the infection. Autumn's had sinus infections just like the one you're describing. These were the ones that eventually landed us in the hospital--sorry to break it to you. I hope it doesn't get that bad for . Ray, mother to Tabitha (age 6), Autumn, age 3 (IgG def., asthma, chronic sinusitis, and allergies), and Duncan Avery, 4 months
Guest guest
Bwahahahaha! I love it, you tell jokes here, too! Marilyn Oops A man standing in line at a check out counter of a grocery store was very surprised when a very attractive woman behind him said, " Hello! " Her face was beaming. He gave her that " who are you look, " and couldn't remember ever having seen her before. Then, noticing his look, she figured she had made a mistake and apologized. " Look, " she said " I'm really sorry but when I first saw you, I thought you were the father of one of my children, " and walked out of the store. The guy was dumbfounded and thought to himself, " What the hell is the world coming to? Here is an attractive woman who can't keep track of who fathers her children! " Then he got a little panicky. " I don't remember her, " he thought but, MAYBE....during one of the wild parties he had been to when he was in college, perhaps he did father her child! He ran from the store and caught her in the parking lot and asked, " Are you the girl I met at a party in college and then we got really drunk and had wild crazy sex on the pool table in front of everyone? " " No, " she said with a horrified look on her face. " I'm your son's second grade teacher! "
