This is obviously a critical time when Mr. Obama is trying to get the American people-who are already 1.5 trillion dollars in debt-to pay for other people’s contraception. I NEED YOUR HELP IF I AM TO HAVE ANY CHANCE OF GETTING ON TO THE PROGRAM. Please read the attachment which includes a description of how you can assist me to get on the show. Your prayers and help mean a lot to me. Also, please pray for me if I do get the opportunity to be on the show, that God give me wisdom and peace. Thank you very much. Dr. *************************** Attachment: Dear People: March 4, 2012 We all realize the enormity of the current debate on government-mandated contraception. In essence, we as a people, who are more than 15 trillion dollars in debt, will likely soon be paying for other people’s condoms and oral contraceptives via our tax dollars (although we already are to some extent via Title X funding). Perhaps the greatest hypocrisy is the labeling of contraceptives as a “critical preventative health benefit†by Kathleen Sebelius, the current secretary of Health and Human Services which leads us naturally, to ask: What disease are they preventing? As many of you know, I have spent the last 20 years studying oral contraceptives, specifically studying their link to invasive breast cancer. I and three colleagues from Penn State Medical University and the University of Pittsburgh published the most recent and comprehensive meta-analysis to date in the prestigious Mayo Clinic Proceedings in October, 2006 but most of the media and medical establishment “actively ignored†our findings, which among other things found that women who took the pill early in their lives sustained a 44% increased risk of developing breast cancer prior to the age of 50. In light of the great bias in both the media and ignorance within the medical establishment toward our study, I believe that the current debate affords us a unique opportunity of getting the word out on the very real and dangerous link between oral contraceptives and breast cancer. In order to do that, I would like to ask you a very great favor. Could you please help me get on to the Rush Limbaugh show this Monday, March 5, 2012? I realize that it’s difficult to get on his show but with each of you praying, it is possible. So I ask you to please help out by first offering prayers and possibly a small fast on Monday morning and secondly by trying to make contact with Rush with the strategy of getting me on the show by asking the program to call my cell phone at or obtaining a direct phone number on which I can call in on and then informing me of that number. (If they will do neither, please mention the bullets noted below when you get on the show) Here are a few suggestions: 1) For everyone, but especially those who have automatic redial, please: call the Rush between 12 noon and 3pm Eastern Time on Monday March 5, 2012 at 1- begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 2) If you have access to a fax machine, can you send a fax to the show? The fax is 1- (Consider using sample letter below) 3) Email Rush at both ELRushbo@... and Msoifer@... (Consider using bullets from or the sample letter below) I will have my cell phone on between the hours of noon and 3 PM tomorrow, hoping and praying that a “special call†comes in. Thank you for your efforts and prayers. In His time, Kahlenborn, MD PS: Sample letter is attached: Dear Rush: March 4, 2012 I am upset that I am currently paying for other people’s condoms and oral contraceptives via my tax dollars through Title X funding, especially when we as a nation are 15 trillion dollars in debt. I am also upset regarding the Obama administration’s edict that may soon force everyone especially Catholic hospitals to pay for their employee’s birth control via obvious cost shifting from insurance companies to hospitals and their employees. Perhaps the greatest hypocrisy is the touted “critical preventative health benefit(s)†of contraception as recently extolled by Kathleen Sebelius, the current secretary of Health and Human Services. It naturally follows that we must ask the Secretary: what disease(s) are contraceptives preventing? If they are not preventing disease, why should we pay for them? On that note, I ask you Rush to consider having Dr. Kahlenborn, researcher and medical internist on your program for a few minutes today, Monday March 5, 2011. Why? Dr. Kahlenborn has studied oral contraceptives and their link to breast cancer for 20 years. He has written a textbook on the matter, testified before the FDA, founded the Polycarp Research Institute, lectured in China, Russia, Canada, the Philippines and the United States. He and colleagues from Penn State Medical University and the University of Pittsburgh also published the most recent meta-analysis to date in the prominent Mayo Clinic Proceedings in October, 2006. A few things that Dr. Kahlenborn could comment on include: 1) The Mayo Clinic Proceedings study noted that 21 out of 23 studies found an increased risk in developing breast cancer in young women who took the pill prior to their first full-term pregnancy. Overall, these unfortunate women sustained a 44% increased risk of developing breast cancer prior to the age of 50! 2) The story of how the New York Times buried the story! Grady, writer for the New York Times, contacted the Mayo Clinic to ask for a copy of the study shortly after the study came out. What happened then? Absolutely nothing!!: The New York Times ignored the entire article-literally ignoring the largest meta-analysis to date and thereby putting political correctness above the freedom of women to make an informed decision, not to mention their health. 3) The overall effect of the pill is negative on health: while it decreases the risk of ovarian and uterine cancer, it increases the risk of cervical, liver and breast cancer. It also increases the risk of blood clots and heart attacks and strokes. 4) How and why virtually 100% of the medical establishment-except for a few top level researchers-are ignoring the study. 5) Why lawyers are starting to become interested in putting together a class action law suit based on the significant breast cancer risk. Rush, could you please contact Dr. today? He will be available on his cell phone at and is hopeful that you will call him. He would very much like to speak to you, your audience and especially the young women who are at such great risk from this very dangerous drug. Contraception, especially the pill, is not a “preventative health benefitâ€; it is already costing American taxpayers over 300 million dollars annually via Title X funding and now Mr. Obama is trying to force insurance companies to offer it “for free†which means that you and I will pay for it. That’s too much to ask to a nation whose people are already 15 trillion dollars in debt. Thank you very much for the good work you are doing Rush and your courage in fighting on. Sincerely, Attachment: N-S

This is obviously a critical time when Mr. Obama is trying to get the American people-who are already 1.5 trillion dollars in debt-to pay for other people’s contraception. In essence, we as a people, who are more than 15 trillion dollars in debt, will likely soon be paying for other people’s condoms and oral contraceptives via our tax dollars (although we already are to some extent via Title X funding). Perhaps the greatest hypocrisy is the labeling of contraceptives as a “critical preventative health benefit” by Kathleen Sebelius, the current secretary of Health and Human Services which leads us naturally, to ask: What disease are they preventing? As many of you know, I have spent the last 20 years studying oral contraceptives, specifically studying their link to invasive breast cancer. I and three colleagues from Penn State Medical University and the University of Pittsburgh published the most recent and comprehensive meta-analysis to date in the prestigious Mayo Clinic Proceedings in October, 2006 but most of the media and medical establishment “actively ignored” our findings, which among other things found that women who took the pill early in their lives sustained a 44% increased risk of developing breast cancer prior to the age of 50. In light of the great bias in both the media and ignorance within the medical establishment toward our study, I believe that the current debate affords us a unique opportunity of getting the word out on the very real and dangerous link between oral contraceptives and breast cancer. Contraception, especially the pill, is not a “preventative health benefit”; it is already costing American taxpayers over 300 million dollars annually via Title X funding and now Mr. Obama is trying to force insurance companies to offer it “for free” which means that you and I will pay for it. That’s too much to ask to a nation whose people are already 15 trillion dollars in debt. Thank you very much for the good work you are doing Rush and your courage in fighting on. Guest guest
,Good points. Rush has been talking a lot about the contraceptive/abortion issue and has even talked about their links to breast cancer. I think this is the point that needs to be driven home: preventing a baby and causing breast cancer. Doesn't seem like a good trade off, does it? Peggy Bartley yes i heard that it was very good but Rush didnt give her much time. i got on Hannity the other week and he cut me off but i got some good points in that birth control is NOT preventative care, that writing a pill to prevent a Child is NOT preventative care, when did a child become a disease, and then went into the fact that Obama wants to make Class I Carcinogens (IARC, 2005) FREE for all young American women and tell them that it is GOOD for them!! Guest guest
Who will be harmed by the HHS mandate - aside from the obvious religiousorganizations / women / couples / unborn etc.? How about all the poor served by Catholic organizations. I work for Catholic Charities (and am an adjunct professor at town) and I can say with certainty that if our health insurance premiums go up to pay for women's birth control we would have to cut services to the poor, the homeless, the mentally ill, etcThe $3000 that this law student "can't" afford to pay would be better spent on her than providing primary medical and dental care for a poor family for a year which is what my clinic could do with that moneyConsidering the median salary of new town law grads is $160,000 an we serve families making less than $40,000 a year that is unjust.Sent from my iPhone Dear megan, thank you for your sharing those things. Of course I agree with you that we have to love the people hurt by the pill. Of course just because some of us listen to Rush (because frankly he is one of the only media that does consider ocps and abortion immoral) does not mean we condone name calling. However I have been a long time listener of Rush and have been on his show twice and always treated with kindness and respect. I feel I know his tactics better than a once in a while listener. Do u listen to him on a regular basis? If so, you probably realize that he is trying to point out the absurdity of this very bizarre situation. Let's examine this situation more closely. A law student at an expensive private CATHOLIC university testifies in front of Congress that she needs free birth control?! Really? Who may benefit from her testimony? Who will be harmed by it? What are the powers at play here? Why was Senator Boxer pleading for her to testify? Was it a coincidence that President Obama called her to make sure she was ok? Who has the power? Who was punished?Someone is a victim here and it was never sandra fluke.Blessings, dr rebecca peckSent via BlackBerry by AT & T Sender: nfpprofessionals Date: Mon, 5 Mar 2012 12:04:15 -0800 (PST)To: <nfpprofessionals >ReplyTo: nfpprofessionals Subject: Re: Fw: Please help Dr. to get on the Rush Limbaugh program Monday, March 5, 2012 Hello,I'd like to share a story. Almost 20 years ago, I heard Sr. Hanna speak about the TeenStar program. She was enthusiastic, respectful and nuanced in her discussion of natural family planning. I was 14 years old. There was a man in the audience who was very opposed to Sr. Hanna's goal to teach young women about their bodies and their cycles. He yelled, he was rude, essentially expressed no end of vitriolic about the dangers of teaching youth the basics of physiology. I believe he compared the TeenStar program to teaching young people about cars. Teaching them to drive would not make them safe drivers - it would induce them to steal the family car and drive illegally. Likewise, if you taught young people about cycles and mucus, they wouldn't fear pregnancy anymore and could have sex with impunity. In any case, the point was - he didn't do anything but offend me and his message was lost. I still went on and became an instructor of a secular method fertility awareness. I meet women of all kinds of faiths and needs and histories. I know that that oral contraceptives are not a good thing for women - I see the damage on a daily basis. Would I listen to that message from a man who calls a woman a "slut" for using the pill? Not on your life. I just have to question how well that message will be heard from that kind of venue. I understand it's not a popular point of view - I am on the receiving end of plenty of criticism for questioning the pill and our culture's distorted view of the female body and its profound commodification. But, I think compassion and some nuance might go a long way to actually reaching women. Lalonde, CPM, HRHP yes i heard that it was very good but Rush didnt give her much time. i got on Hannity the other week and he cut me off but i got some good points in that birth control is NOT preventative care, that writing a pill to prevent a Child is NOT preventative care, when did a child become a disease, and then went into the fact that Obama wants to make Class I Carcinogens (IARC, 2005) FREE for all young American women and tell them that it is GOOD for them!!
