Guest guest
Not sure what you mean. Why would you need more medicine with those blood pressures? Doesn't make sense. Aldosterone alone seems to be fairly harmless. Might just need more potassium - I take the OTC type too because the chloride in the prescription one gives me an incredible headache, but I have to take 6 a day (2 tabs 3 times a day) because it is not the same as potassium chloride nor equal to it. Are you sure there is no other reason for the peeing alot like diabetes. And what is peeing alot to you? Are you Dashing at 1500 of salt a day? Remember it's not the salt shaker, but all the hidden sodium in food. But you sound like your potassium is low, and possibly your magnesium as we tend to lose that too. Subject: Spiro dose too low?To: hyperaldosteronism Date: Thursday, November 17, 2011, 11:21 PM I'm currently on 25mg of Spiro and my BP is great - 100/64 just now and averaging in the 110s/70s. However, I'm wondering if my dose is too low to really deal with the excess aldosterone. If I take more Spiro will be BP continue to drop? I'm DASHing but still peeing a LOT. I have intermittent flank pain that is very discomforting. Still have some cramping in my feet and brain fog and exhaustion. I could double my dose of Spiro but I'm not sure if that is wise. I do take over-the-counter potassium (99mg x2) and drink low sodium V8 daily. Thanks for any advice. I don't see my new doctor until January.Lynda

Guest guest
The only other medication I take is Evamist (estradiol) for HRT. As for the OTC potassium, it is potassium gluconate. I am DASHing at 1500mg Na per day and reading every label and eating mostly homemade foods and drinking low sodium V8. 'Peeing a lot' to me means 4-5 times per hour during the day. I know spiro is a diuretic. I get up once or twice a night too. I'm definitely not diabetic. I just thought that I might need more spiro because of some of the messages I've read here. It sounded like some were saying that it might take more to block the aldo. Thanks so much for all the good information. I'm feeling somewhat better than I did - I can at least function now. It would be lovely to feel healthy again! Lynda

Guest guest
potassium gluconate is not equal to potassium chloride (the prescription one). You need alot of the K gluconate to equal what you get in the other one.
