While at my parent's house this past week the boys were getting ready to swim. They were so excited they wanted to change in front of everyone. So I take 's clothes off and he starts running around naked. Laughing and chanting, "I am showing my butt!" He stops and looks at me....he is trying to think of something. He has heard me say before when they are naked, you are in your birthday suit, but can't remember those words. So he screams with delight, "I am in my cake suit!"We all cracked up. Guest guest
We went to Falls, OK on Saturday. And the "lake area" is all rocky and slippery. So my husband took the kids across one stream and I was too afraid to cross because I didn't want to fall and break a bone. So there is Hayden on the other side saying, "DO IT MOM DO IT C'MON MOM". Everyone around us starting laughing. I DID eventually cross over but with a lot of help from my husband.(and my kids cheering me on) Joanmom to Hayden 2 1/262 degreesTreated at ish Rite Hospital Dallas, TX From: "infantile_scoliosis " <infantile_scoliosis >To: infantile_scoliosis Sent: Sunday, September 6, 2009 10:47:40 PMSubject: Challenge time!, 9/7/2009, 12:00 am Reminder from: infantile_scoliosis Yahoo! Guest guest
He really loves to be outside and play and get dirty. I hope he can still do all those things with his cast (except the water stuff). Falls was an hour and a half from us so probably about the same for you guys. Straight up 35 North. It was nice but a ton of people and it was hot that day. I would like to go back when it is cooler and just hike and explore the caves. You can only do so much swimming. Lake area is really slippery, was worried about kids getting hurt. But it was a fun day overall. Guest guest
Bex is 2 years and 2 months, and we're still having a lot of fun with language. We hear him in his crib every morning trying to count to 10 or just practicing new words. Sometimes he wakes up from naps crying- his Dad did the same thing as a baby- but other times he wakes up yelling "YAY!" AND "YEAH!", which is really cute. A lot of it is still babble, but yesterday he said "turkey" and "apple" for the first time. My favorite new word is "Happy", which he said to both of Nick's parents when they were visiting. That was a big hit. He also yells "Oh, NO!" and often commands us to put our arms "UP" AND "DOWN" all the time, like a little General. We think it gives him a sense of control when he has so little in life. He's drawing like crazy- creating artworks of chalk and crayon all over the park and unfortunately on our walls, windows, the TV screen, etc...a mini Picasso, he's very serious about it. Lastly, he has learned to control his pee and thinks it's HILARIOUS to pee on us on purpose mid diaper change, giggling.Heidi, Bexon's Mama, (2 years old, in 3rd cast from Salt Lake City Shriners, currently down from 61 degrees to 25) From: infantile_scoliosis <infantile_scoliosis >Subject: Challenge time!, 9/7/2009, 12:00 amTo: infantile_scoliosis Date: Sunday, September 6, 2009, 8:47 PM Reminder from: infantile_scoliosis Yahoo! Guest guest
They are so curious and confident at that age. They will try anything once, boys especially. What a riot that he purposely pee's on you guys. Maybe he is ready to potty train. Hayden is almost 3 and is not at all interested.. And doc said that he will regress even more when the cast is on. . Hayden likes to say "OH MAN", when something doesn't go his way. I think he learned that from Swiper the fox from Dora. Guest guest
I think showing letter in "real life" helps. We'd point out letters in signs and stuff like that. Also, the Letter Factory DVD is GREAT. Teaches letter and the sounds they make. Both Ian and Noelle loved these DVDs...they still watch them sometimes (there is a math one and word one as well). Guest guest
OH I think I still have the letter factory dvd from when my daughter was little. I will try to find it. Thanks. I was using flashcards, but he doesn't really like those. We'd point out letters in signs and stuff like that. Also, the Letter Factory DVD is GREAT. Teaches letter and the sounds they make. Both Ian and Noelle loved these DVDs...they still watch them sometimes (there is a math one and word one as well). They are made by LeapFrog. Guest guest
Hadley is potty trained!!! She is only 2 years old and 3 months. I was impressed! I really had no part in it other than taking her to the potty when she wanted to go. She was by far the easiest kid I know to potty train! I thought it might be hard with her and her cast, but not at all! And such perfect timing; were expecting our 3rd in 10 days! Guest guest
Some of you may remember a funny quote that I posted a few months ago. I sent it in to Parents magazine and they printed it in their Sept issue.
