Guest guest
Suspect you are correct's as it worsens when you bend forward. May have stretched some scarring in the area as well. Did you lift a heavy turkey out of the oven?Would try heating pad/hot water bottle to back area but don't burn yourself.Keep us posted.CE Grim MD Just wondering if any post-adrenalectomy folks here have had a sudden pain in the surgical area develop *after* the pain from the surgery was already long gone? And if so, why would this happen so long after the area has healed? Woke up with it Saturday morning and it seems to only be getting worse - it's a constant dull pain that becomes an incredibly sharp pain when I bend forward. I'm seeing my primary care doc first thing tomorrow morning. Can't see the surgeon until Friday at the earliest. And I hope to avoid the ER entirely - no fever, no signs of swelling or anything really alarming. Just a bit of discomfort. My theory is that I pulled a muscle while driving on the freeway over the weekend - it was my first weekend of lots of driving since the surgery... -msmith1928 Nulliparous female, 46, 5'3", 115 lbs, CT showed 1cm left adrenal nodule, AVS determined disease is unilateral, had left laparoscopic adrenalectomy on 10/13/2011. Guest guest
Hey msmith, I am sorry you are having pain. I have had infrequent brief " stabs, " but nothing that lasts very long & I don't think I have had any for a few weeks. I had similar, but more frequent & longer lasting pain after my hysterectomy in 1998, and it happened occasionally for years afterwards, but it hasn't happened for the last 5 years at least. My BP is running close to 120/70, except when I am out of town & eat out. I believe my K (3.9 on 11\15) is normal as well. People tell me I look so much better - that the color has come back on my face. I am feeling pretty well, but still challenged by fatigue & migraines, which I was hoping, but trying not to expect, would improve after the surgery. I just signed up for a study on the effect of intense meditation on migraines! I see my kidney specialist next week, when I get results from blood work & urine test, so I will file a more detailed report then. Best regards to you & the rest of the group, especially , who I hope gets resolution soon. Guest guest
You might want to consider DASHing again if migraines were better with sprio and DASH.Many with PA have severe headaches that go away with ADX.Can you describe you migraines in more detail?Family Hx, age of onset, relationship to menses, meds, did BP meds help or aggrivate.BB are excellent meds for some with migraines. but can recall if you were ever on them.CE Grim MD Hey msmith, I am sorry you are having pain. Guest guest
LOL no heavy turkey lifting but I have been in a bit of a downsizing/donating to Goodwill mode as of lately - probably lifted something too heavy over the long weekend, in addition to driving too much And thanks for the heating pad suggestion - I never know whether or not to go with heat or with cold. I'll give that a try. > > > Just wondering if any post-adrenalectomy folks here have had a > > sudden pain in the surgical area develop *after* the pain from the > > surgery was already long gone? Guest guest
Thanks Lucy, and good to hear from you! I'm still dealing with a bit of fatigue too - before the surgery I was a total night-owl; now I can barely make it until 10pm I hope you find a resolution to the migraines soon. My BP is running in the low 120s/80s; lower if I am able to get out and get a good long walk in before it's too dark. Before the surgery, exercise never lowered my BP; now I'll stay in the 110s/70s for the rest of the day after a walk. Proof to me that it's important to get up and move! > > >Just wondering if any post-adrenalectomy folks here have had a sudden pain in the surgical area develop *after* the pain from the surgery was already long gone? Guest guest
Interesting. I took Timolol, a BB, for migraines for about 5 months in 2009 & I could hardly increase my HR no matter how hard I exercised. I never checked my BP, except when I did a fitness test that April. When I stopped Timolol, I could get my HR up real easy. I also got winded during that time when I ride my bicycle up a lot of small hills (from PA?). I am scheduled to do the same fitness test again tomorrow, so it ell be interesting to compare results post adrenalectomy. Guest guest
I am off all meds too, except omerprazole & cymbalta, which I hope to try stopping next year, at different times. Guest guest
Turns out both Dr G and I were correct - doc says it's a pulled muscle and irritated scar tissue. I'm so new to this surgery thing that I would have thought that by 6 weeks out, everything would be healed, but apparently that's not how it works. Left the doc's office with instructions for heat, 800mg ibuprofen, and a strong recommendation that I slow down a bit. Lesson learned > > > Just wondering if any post-adrenalectomy folks here have had a > > sudden pain in the surgical area develop *after* the pain from the > > surgery was already long gone?
