Guest guest
Hi Joan! Yes, i think you can try petaling.... You can also consult with your casting doc to see if you can flare those areas a bit..... Noelle has been in 8 casts and our doc has told us that if a certain area remains too tight and close to the skin to take a pair of pliers and bend it up a bit to relieve some of that "digging". Just an idea!- Noelle's mommy, 2 1/2 years old and in 8th cast from Rochester NY, reflux, mild plagiocephaly, mild torticollos, hypotonia, ligament laxity, suspected Ehler's Danlos III Subject: cast diggingTo: infantile_scoliosis Date: Sunday, September 27, 2009, 2:19 AM Ladies, Haydens cast is digging a little bit into his hips since he has now mastered sitting up in his cast. Guest guest
Joan,There is very little of Isabella's cast that isn't petaled and she still got a sore on her hip. It's much tighter on the one hip this time and I've just been using the calendula cream on it and it seems to be getting better. I think her problem is that the diaper is rubbing right there so not much I can do. I also tried to "friend" you on FB but it won't let me. I will call the doc first though, of course. I also thinks its the diaper as well. Sorry about the FB thing. Every time I get a friend request, I click on it and it won't let me accept it. It just refreshes the page. So sorry, I wasn't ignoring anyone. I have contacted FB 3 times. They are frustrating. hopefully I will get it working soon. Guest guest
We also switched to pull-ups and that made it easier to get them under the cast. We actually used Pampers "easy-ups" they have the absorbency of a diaper but the pull-up design. Some of the pull-ups types don't have a great amount of absorbency, since, in theory, they are supposed to send the child the signal to use the bathroom, not absorb lots of urine. Guest guest
Ok, Tasha, I won't use pullups then, sounds like they aren't as absorbant. Did you have to stop using diapers b/c of rubbing and chaffing? Jenn uses just pullups now b/c of chaffing. I may try it and see if it works but with the easy ups instead. Thanks for the advice. Guest guest
No I always used diapers, but with our experiences with pull ups in general due to night time wear, I like Easy Ups or the Night Time Pull ups.TashaMommy of 4 year old twin boys- and Fort Worth, TexasSeries of 6 casts for 14 months and now in a night brace. is treated at Texas ish Rite Hospital. You can read 's story at....http://www.infantilescoliosis.org/stories.html--- Subject: Re: Re: cast diggingTo: infantile_scoliosis Date: Monday, September 28, 2009, 3:41 PM Ok, Tasha, I won't use pullups then, sounds like they aren't as absorbant. Did you have to stop using diapers b/c of rubbing and chaffing? Jenn uses just pullups now b/c of chaffing. I may try it and see if it works but with the easy ups instead. Thanks for the advice. Guest guest
I actually use Easy ups too. I always forget what they are called so I just go with teh generic term. I also found that easyups fit better than other brands.
