Guest guest
Hello, I am in in the same boat as you as I have a PANDAS daughter. She has been on Zoloft for 12 months now, and I don't believe it is working (if it ever did). I talked to her Dr about weaning her off and seeing how she does. I'd like to try the Inositol, and checked out the Source Naturals website you suggested. Looks like it comes in crystals or powder. Which product are you using and how do you give it? Mixed into a liquid? And my daughter has highly sensitive tastebuds, which always makes giving medicine a particular challenge - how bad does it taste. Thank you so much for any info you can share. Best wishes, Peggy Subject: Re: Inositol trial/Chris To: Date: Saturday, January 3, 2009, 11:40 AM Yes, plan to give it at least 12 weeks - by then it will be Spring and hopefully strep will not be a threat for awhile. My plan is to titer up to a high dose for the OCD/Pandas until spring (probably 4-5 grams as he is only 50 lbs), then drop down to a much lower level recommended for general anxiety (2 grams) during the summer. Assuming all this works, I'd go back up on dosage in the fall/winter to brace for strep again. We're going slow - first two days he had a little cramping, gas pains. Now he's ok. We start5 week two with a higher dose tomorrow. He prefers to just have the inositol on his tongue instead of having it dissolved in something. He doesn't like being nagged to finish the whole drink of whatever. That may change as the dosage goes up, but whatever works. Yes, buying it online. Using the Source Naturals you suggested. I figure the cost will be about $30-40/mo in winter and $20/mo in summer. Since we have an extremely high deductible insurance plan, any drug costs are pretty much out of pocket. Cingulair costs $90/mo for my daughter during spring, Albuterol for all of us is $36 per inhaler, so this feels like a bargain if it works. > > > > Hi all, > > After surviving another PANDAS episode and earning another battle > > scar, we started our son on inositol this week (Keep your fingers > > crossed for us, Chris)in the hopes that the next episode might be > > milder mood/anger wise (I doubt this was our last strep of the > season). >
