Guest guest
My daughter has been using such a vest for many years now. It was the best thing I ever got her for her sensory issues. When she becomes scattered, unfocused and the verbal perseveration takes over her, we put it on and within 15 minutes she is back to her old self. It also helped when she tried eloping when we'd go out for walks. Someone told me that it makes her feel where her body is in position to space and she doesn't need the urge to run when exposed to open spaces. Her teacher uses it in school and it really helps. pressure vest > Does your child use a pressure vest? > > They have been using one on my daughter at school for about a month > now. Guest guest
, My daughter is 4 and a couple weeks ago, my daughter started having a fit to wear the vest when another child had one. It got to the point they had to remove it from the room. They tried it on her and it really calmed her down as well. We have a real problem with her bolting into the street. I realize the vest has restrictions, I just fantasize about having one she could wear all the time. :-) We are definitely going to find out how we can have one of our own. Guest guest
A pressure vest is just that. It causes pressure or tightness when it's on. Some kids like my daughter crave deep pressure/firm touch so this is a vest that you put on your child that give them the sensory imput from the snugness of the vest. It usually has a calming effect, very comforting. -- In Autism_in_Girls , " Kitty " <ecb612@h...> wrote: > I'm new to autism, what is a pressure vest? Guest guest
- My daughter gets O/T & P/T No sensory per say but they deal with her sensory through O/T. My daughter is on Medicade and if they don't pay her DMR rep. said that she's pretty sure she could get it for us. So it's just going through the paper work. Thanks, -- In Autism_in_Girls , " Dougherty " <JBelle456@c...> wrote: > If your daughter is receiving Occupational therapy services or sensory > integration therapy through her OT, the school district or preschool > services should provide this sesnsory vest or reimburse you should you > decide to buy one for her.
