My name is . I'm from Colorado. I've been listening to the podcasts=

for about 3 months. I=A0also like to relisten. I've finally learned enough=

about my mental and emotional tendencies to know that 's approach is =

right on track for me. The concept of self correcting just cut on the preve=

rbial " lightbulb " . Wow. I lost 20lbs. on my own and lost 14 more using Rene=

e. I also refer to Martha Beck's book as well. She's a riot. I keep a stash=

of ice cream in my freezer, in case of an ice cream famine. ( Read Beck's =

book and you'll understand). I also love Dr. Oz and the YOU books. I person=

ally like the approach of using several safe methods. I know how to count c=

alories and excercise. But now I want to and I'm cool with it. The anxiety =

is gone. (Thanks, ). I'm a stay-at-home mother of 3 young children. I =

live in an area where everyone does something athletic. Skiing, hiking, Yog=

a, rock climbing, running; you name it, they do it out here. And at

8,000 above sea level. When I moved to Vail eight years ago I was 50 lbs o=

verweight and no where near doing any of those things. Then I got pregnant =

and pregnant and pregnant . Flash forward 8 years and I'm just now getting =

in the game. I'm a big bikram/hot yoga fan and I've just started hiking. Th=

is winter I'm going to ski with my kids. They're incredible skiers already.=

I love to switch things up every 10 lbs or so. Just to keep my motivation =

Hi, Eileen! I am new to the group as well, and I can relate (as can

most here, probably) to how you feel about positivity being difficult.

I started trying to change my negative thoughts to positive ones

before I came across IOWL, but it does take some time. I found that

it is easier for me if I try to do that with all negative thoughts,

and not those just about myself. It is getting easier all the time.

I now find myself a lot more forgiving of myself and of others, and

when I am more forgiving, I am less stressed/angry/frustrated. Just

keep trying to flip those thoughts! It will come more naturally over

time.
