A security guard? Threats? My goodness! Now there is a sign that people take

TV too far. And eye for an eye is to insult your family, not threaten them.

Yeesh. I hope your family remains safe.

I was happy to read that you value your husband enough to not express how you

felt for America's consumption (and abroad, since I am in Canada!). That takes

class.

I still won't watch the show. I normally don't, but was going to when you

mentioned it. I am thankful for the headsup from the list people as I really

enjoy your podcasts! Thank you SO much for them.

My lesson learned is to NEVER apply to be on tv..

I have done training videos and I had to sign a non-disclosure contract.. I bet

there is stuff isn't allowed to tell us.. how they were guided to say

things and look shocked or hurt, etc. Gah! That must be so frustrating.

Hi All Again,

Again, thank you so much for your compassion and for giving me the

benefit of the doubt.

I forgot to mention that my husband sent a letter of apology to Gayla

shortly after filming ended on the main swap (before the follow up).

He was acting a role for the show, playing a game, and unfortunately

with the stress of the situation it deteriorated terribly and way

beyond what he planned. Hence the apology.

Also, I would like to point out that you can't tell from the show what

I did when, even when I put my head down in table meeting-because the

editors spliced the sequences and a great deal of it is out of order.

It wasn't as it appears. The table meeting was excruciatingly

painful for me. Almost as painful as what I'm going through now. For

example, I have a security guard in front of my house because of the

threats we have received.

Yet I know that the story isn't over yet, and I can't see how this

might turn out positively, but I am setting my intention that good

will come of it to far out weight the bad. At least I know the Long

family made some healthy changes to their lifestyle.

Love and Light,

I just wanted to say that I am really sorry that you are having to go

through what you are going through. I think the response to the Wife

Swap episode has been unproportionately angry and hateful. I have

seen these other websites, and they are really out of control. I

love your podcasts. I think you are absolutely beautiful, and I feel

that you are still very much an inspiration for me as I strive to

manifest my highest potential and naturally slender body. I hope you

can hang in there. Hopefully, someone can do something really

controversial on American Idol this week and take some of the focus

away from you guys (Simon Cowell is British too). I pray for you and

hope that you and your family are able to manifest great things from

this negative experience. Blessings to you. Love Melessa.

I think what saddens me most is that people are taking this too personal with

themselves.

Television is television, it is nothing more nor less.

Reality wiill never capture reality because editors only show what THEY want to

show, not the gold moments of people's lives but their worst moments caught on

tape.

Having a security gaurd is good until the time passes. This is like when

Obama made her comment about America and look how quick it faded away.

This will too, for sure.

Best of luck Renée and to your family!

This sounds like a good-ole American witch hunt to me. I have been called a

traitor for my

opposition to the Iraq War. This was from a friend.

I don't think I need to see the show. I have studied film and video. They can

create a story out of nothing with creative editing.

I'm so sorry for your pain and for all that your family is going through now.

I'm sending you peace!

Dearest :

I am disheartened and saddened by the EXTREME reaction to this "

reality game show " experience called Wife Swap. I know from my

background in film and television how editing can distort the truth

and create a villain when there really isn't a monster. We are all

so desperate for heroes today and for people to show redemption when

they are less than perfect. Evidenced by your comments below it is

clear to me that ABC had an opportunity to show your husband in a

better light and take the " Shakespearean " element out of this

dramatic television experience and chose not to. I would hope that

part of the recovery process is some " olive branch " on their part. I

am sure you have plenty of competent people advising you how best to

proceed. You deserve better treatment than you are currently receiving!

During these terribly painful and unsettling times please remember

how loved you are by the community YOU created and how grateful we

all are to you for the tools you have given us to survive. Don't

forget to use them on yourself!

Perhaps the words from nne on's A Return to Love will

give you some comfort:

" When we are in the midst of loss, or betrayal, or crisis of any

kind, there is power in the words, 'Be still and know I am.' Truth

can never be destroyed. "

With much love and prayers for a speedy, enlightening and healing

resolve to this life experience,

I can't quite wrap my head around why people are getting so upset over

a silly TV show. Then I remember,

" Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm

not sure about the universe. " - Albert Einstein

I think someone already said it, but this too shall pass.

Dear ,

This too shall pass. Already people are complaining about how fat

Simpson is and she's a size six. People are fickle and can be very mean.

That does not affect your karma, or faith in people. At least it should not.

People are so thoughtless and when you add that with anonymity and the

internet.well you get the worst. You also get the best.

I wasn't going to comment, as I'm just a lurker here, but...I'm going to beg

the indulgence of the Moderator and of . This isn't going where you

think it is.

First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Amy, I go also by

Spellsinger and a bunch of other names and email accounts. I'm a Strega Witch.

I also

have what some would consider to be a big mouth. But I try to use it to

speak Truth whenever possible and I ALWAYS work toward Justice. That's the

hallmark of a Strega Maga like myself. I tell you this so that maybe you'll

understand why I'm choosing to say things in the way I say them. Most of the

time, couching things in terms of " light, love and lollipops " don't work. And

working with your shadow side is one of those times. If my manner seems a bit

abrasive, it's because I don't like tiptoing around stuff and most people

prefer to tiptoe. It's a waste of my time. Sorry if it bothers you.

I was planning on watching Wife Swap, but forgot about it as soon as I saw

that night's promo for Countdown with Olbermann. Politics as explained

by wins out over so-called " Reality " TV any day of the week. These

" reality " shows are mostly crap anyway. You know it, I know it. The networks

know it, too, but it's cheap to produce and we're dumb enough as a nation to

let them talk us into almost anything. When I looked at the message board on

ABC a couple hours later, I saw unholy hell breaking loose. I won't rehash,

you've all seen it and has lived it.

A lesson I learned a long time ago was " Karma has sharp teeth and a

propensity for backsides " . This is SOOOO true. Karma also has lessons. The

Whatsits High Atop the Thing doesn't really wait till we're dead to punish us

for

stuff. And sometimes, it takes looking through another set of eyes to see a

reality we don't see right in front of us. learned all of that this

weekend, in spades. None of us really sees our true personality or that of our

partners on a day to day basis. So, I choose to believe that had no

idea her husband could harbor that darkness I'm told he exhibited in the show.

See, a lot of times, we refuse to look at our dark or shadow side. It's

where we lock up the crap in our lives that we don't want to look at, but carry

with us all the time. Every hurtful remark someone said to us, every time our

parents did or said something to belittle us, everything the bully in the

playground or classrooms did to us is in that box of shadow and darkness. And

we refuse to look at it, deal with it, process and release it until and

unless it escapes that box we keep it in and knocks us on our asses. We have

ALL

done that. Most of us still do. And it drives us to do amazingly stupid

crap. It drives us into unhealthy relationships, addictions, obsessions that

either flow along the same current or try, unsuccessfully, to escape it. We

CANNOT and WILL NOT escape these patterns until we look, deal, process and

release. Take a look in the mirror. I carry a lot of that crap on my hips and

around my middle. Until a year ago, I also carried it with a pack of

cigarettes and a lighter. Where do you carry it?

I was saddened with what I read about what happened, but I know that ,

at her heart, is trying to help us with IOWL, so I waited. I watched as her

blog disappeared off PLM. Then, her podcasts. And today, posted an

email to this group. She acknowledged the problem and stated the steps she is

planning to take to address the issues underlying the behaviors. As a long

time fan of Sorkin's great series The West Wing, I will use the same

words Jed Bartlett used when he was ready to move on. What's Next?

I'm going to strongly suggest that everyone, on all sides of this issue,

take a deep breath, let it out, scrape the crap off your shoes and move on.

, I wish you and your family the best of luck in dealing with any and all

personal and interpersonal issues that came up in this situation. But I also

suggest that everyone take a long hard look at that shadow box you keep your

crap in. We each need to work on our own and just flooding it with white

light won't cut it. I hope the podcasts will eventually return. I'm still

working through them, myself. And I will keep listening.

No problems here ... this is another perspective worth considering. We

all have our issues to deal with, and it takes courage to deal with

our " shadow sides " (good way to put it). It is what it is. Seems you

get told the same thing I do - I'm often told that I'm " too harsh " (or

anti-social) in my manner of speaking because I am very direct. I am

what I am, and I generally don't speak unless I have to.

Thanks for posting. ;)

Hi Rev,

Yea, but who would you rather have a drink with: Bill O'Riley or

Colbert; Rush Limbaugh or Olberman? The one we want to have a drink with

is the truthiest.

Good one about the shadows, but I'll still send light and love while I breathe

Yea, but Colbert doesn't seem like he would be very comfortable in a bar. I

think O'Riley would be the best drinking buddy. Olberman and Limbaugh would be

too pushy. Therefore; O'Riley must be the most trustworthy source of important

Definitely Colbert if he stayed in character. Love that show. Did you see

the interview he did with the Utah representative? He challenged the rep to

a leg wrestling match and the guy accepted. So funny.

For a really good laugh, look up the old bits from the Daily Show in which

Colbert and Steve Carrell did a point/counterpoint as political

commentators on opposite ends of the spectrum. Search the Daily Show site

videos for Even Stevphen.

Colbert. For sheer entertainment alone. I LOVE it when he interviews the rep

from Washington D.C. she is hysterical.

I'd choose Limbaugh and Colbert.

Ooooh! That is interesting. Limbaugh would probably sit on skinny Colbert and

smush the truthiness right out of him!

lost it all.

Colbert would be fine in a bar, with his wrist strong bracelet and his

condemnation. LOL!!

Yea, but Colbert doesn't seem like he would be very comfortable in a bar. I

think O'Riley would be the best drinking buddy. Olberman and Limbaugh would

be too pushy. Therefore; O'Riley must be the most trustworthy source of

important information. ;;

LOL. Yes, I am a Conservative Republican (duck) - so I'd be in Heaven.

LOL. However, this group is about weight loss support and not politics - so

don't hold that against me! :-)

Colbert is a comedian, lest that info be forgotten. And I'm not always

convinced he's funny. is Da Man.

This is my opinion. Naturally, your mileage may vary.
