Guest guest
Marilyn - No pain at all and I was wide awake the entire time. I couldn't fall asleep even after it was all over. I built it up in my head that it was going to be awful and maybe it's just the word " biopsy " that's so scary, but for me this was no big deal. They gave me a shot of lidocaine to numb the area and that was it. At 11:51 PM 6/15/2005, you wrote: >, are you saying that you had no pain either? Guest guest
Hi Char My doc gave me conscious sedation which consisted of morphine and versed...My doc said he wouldnt do this procedure without it " My husband who was allowed to be in the room with me said all I said was " ouch " very softly.. With this type of sedation you are awake enough to follow commands but I have NO memory of any of it! I think its inhumane to do this kind of procedure without this kind of sedation,, but then again, there are many many doctors who think that we should have to hurt because we must have done something to cause ourselves to become infected.. Its just ignorance but some docs think its only fair to punish us for becoming infected so therefor we must pay the price (pain).... I say this because I have heard so many ppl say their docs refused to give them anything before the procedure and nothing for pain afterwards... char8475ok wrote: my curiousity is aroused too..when i had my biopsy i was hoping to be put under or at least given a relaxer/tranquiler, i was told NO you have to be awake/able to follow instructions('take a deep breath, exhale, exhale keep exhaling " ) they just locally numbed my rib cage area... charlene > My biopsy was a piece of cake! I got a lidocaine drip before they started, and slept through the whole thing. I wasn't looking forward to having to lay on my stomach with a pillow under my liver for five hours, but I slept through that, too. Gosh, I've had umpteen surgeries, and I was more afraid of that liver biopsy than anything I've ever had done! > > Marilyn > Re: Re: Hi all... > > > Thanks alot Annita. I didn't drink last night, either. That's a major accomplishment for me.I have to go back to the doctor.During my last visit the doctor said, " By the way, did Dr.K. tell you that you tested positive for the hepC antibody " ? Well no he didn't, and I almost fell off the chair.Just when I had come to grips with the hiv infection.I never went back. That was 6 months ago. All I know is my viral load is 300,000.I know nothing else and am terrified of having a biopsy done.Lorraine > >
Guest guest
Im sorry too that you had such a hard time,, there is NO excuse for that!!! I made it really really clear that I wanted this kind of sedation,, and my doc agreed and said he always uses this for a liver biopsy... like I said, some docs want to punish us for having this disease,,, totally ignorant and MEAN on their part,, I mean, do you think they would allow anyone to do this procedure on anyone in THIER family without this kind of sedation?????? no,, they wouldnt !!! char8475ok wrote: jackie you are so lucky to get any kind sedation...i was gratefull to get at least the locale numbing...i hope these doctors if they dont use sedation at least use local numbing agents...when my " agent " wore off i swore my ribs felt crushed like a horse kicked them.pain was unbelieveable. char > > My biopsy was a piece of cake!
