Guest guest
You must also reduce Na intake as low as possible. One immediate way to do this is to eat plain cooked rice (with no salt) and fresh fruit with no salt till you get DASHing.Note that Max has chosen ( as I recall) to not lower Na markedly thus still needs K. Once one has DASHed to the max should not need much K pills. CE Grim MD Seems not enough K. I am on Spiro=100mg but still take 120 mEq K (=120 * 39 = 4680 mg) and you without bp control are in lower K dose...If you are not on Spiro then get to higher K dose or drink a lot of K-reach beverage/vegetables/fruits until bp is normalized by medication and K supplements...fro now 180 syst bp is too high...you need your kidneys. Guest guest
ask them to do a spot urine Na and K and creatinine at the same time to better see where you are on DASHing now.CE Grim MD Thanks for that Max, I will have K tested in morning, this will also give me an idea of what k is now. > > Seems not enough K. Guest guest
Does plain rice have a lot of potassium in it? If not why does it work? Guest guest
It has No salt/sodium and some K but most K comes from the rice-fruit part of the RICE-fruit diet. Guest guest
Val, I tried several times to catch him and didn't succeeded. I have an appointment with my endocrinologist on Tuesday. Val From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of Natalia Kamneva Val, I got this report and even forwarded it to Dr. Grim. He could not figure it out :-)U of Pittsburgh does the same thing obviously. Natalia Natalia, get your hospital report. That will tell you whether you had ACTH. U of Michigan does AVS while on spironolactone, but I don't know of any other center that does that. Val From: hyperaldosteronism [mailto:hyperaldosteronism ] On Behalf Of Natalia KamnevaAfter that I asked three doctors who saw me in the hospital, including my PCP, and all of them answered they don't know if AVS was with or without ACTH. Now, no wonder, that my AVS showed that both of my adrenals produce the same amount of hormones, and they are practically normal, even if I have 2 cm adenoma on a left side. |

Guest guest
What is a normal A/r rartio in your lab. May your pressure be low!CE Grim MS, MDSpecializing in DifficultHypertension Hi Dr. Grim - I just got K results back from Nov 4- it is 4.0. I have had another aldo/renin test and still waiting for the results. My last renin/aldo test in 2009 renin was 0.6 and 905 aldo AVS results from april 2011: Right adrenal vein plasma cortisol 577 nmol/l, Left adrenal vein plasma cortisol 650 nmol/l, IVC plasma cortisol 492 nmol/l (unfortunately, these suggest that the catheters were not correctly sited in the adrenal veins). I think I told you this already. I started 25mg of Inspra 9 Nov, will go up to 50mg in the next couple days and now begin dashing. We just moved house and I have been eating everything as our stove and fridge were not working. I am now dashing as of today. Have a great day Chris > > > Get to someone's potassium pills right away...you need K for now until > > someone helps you....find a lot K > > > > Max. > > > > | > > |Problems now. > > |very high bp 184/118 today. > > |20 plus pees per day > > |very low energy > > |don't sleep more than 2 hrs at one time > > |iritable/stressed/feel down alot > > |chest pain due to LVH > > |flank pain > > |I get shakey alot - had that since 5 yrs old crave salt leg > > numbness I just > > feel > > |weak leg and feet cramps every day - on 3600mg slowK > > | > > | http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ > > > > >
